Fuzzy Pipe Wrench posted:GOHS 59-66 have gone up the past 2 days. Really glad there aren't long waits between these chapters in particular. Except now you'll be waiting a week per chapter. The raw for 66 came out today, in fact, but I'm glad we're finally caught up. This group is also taking Special Martial Arts so we'll start getting much faster releases for it, and for that I'm graciously thankful.

pnumoman posted:52 is not yet out, and given the plot so far, I highly doubt the information in the text is a spoiler, but the image certainly might be a real spoiler. Korean readers are up to chapter 42 at this point. (And drat, I keep forgetting how behind the translations are. Just so you guys know, it's still awesome.) It's depressing. I thought these Mangapirate scans would finally get us caught up, but I don't think they really care about faster releases, they seem to just care about beating EG and TheCompany to releasing scans.

Oh look, it's a new God of High School release! It's really good. If you aren't reading this series feel free to give this chapter a try - it'll probably give you something to look forward to.

Cbouncerrun posted:Ugh, is A-team the only translation team who did The Breaker: New Waves? I want to read it on an online reader but they're assholes and horribly watermarked it unless you download it directly from them. I believe 20 or so chapters of New Waves were A-Team only, but the only other people who ever bothered with the series were speed scans who were tired of the A-Team people. What you'll find is that a lot of the aggregating websites like mangapanda will put up the earliest scan and keep it, so you tend not to see A-Team scans after a while. The downside is that sites like Mangapanda shove their own watermarks on the chapters, but at least they don't take up the entire page as A-Team has been wont to do.

The Breaker: NW 102 is out. Finally. After 102 chapters, it's happened. The longest tease of any manga I've read.

pnumoman posted:Hopefully you guys will get somewhat caught up during the current hiatus; Season 1 is finished at 69 chapters, and the author's been on hiatus since April and set to return in October. Doubtful - people have been saying this for a while, but translators just don't pick this up to translate regularly. EG picked it up December 2011 and is up to 23 chapters. Someone mentioned before that it's very hard to translate, and I can believe it just due to the rate that we've been getting it.

A-Team's scan of Breaker: NW 132 is on their site. I don't like sending traffic to their site, but I don't see it rehosted anywhere yet.

Wookie Bouquet posted:Also what exactly is the deal with webtoons, they get funded for seasons? Is this a Korean thing? I highly doubt it, considering there's not a standard 'season' size. To the best of my knowledge, Naver is a portal that pays its Artists for their views and ratings; similar, I imagine, to being a Youtube partnet.

Ryuujin posted:So, other than Veritas kind of, is there anything else like The Breaker/The Breaker New Waves out there? Especially anything like when Shioon goes berserk and just astonishes people? With the same tone? Not that I can really think of. Veritas was definitely the closest, at least in the Manhwa realm. You can look at some other martial arts manga like Shamo or even Sun Ken Rock. The latter is especially good if you like the whole 'win out of sheer tenacity' aspect that Shioon has; but goes a bit overboard with fanservice.

In addition to The Gamer and God of High School, you should also check out Special Martial Arts Extreme Hell Private High School, Tower of God, and Magician. Jose posted:Whats going on with Magician these days is it off hiatus yet? Yep, it's been going strong (in Korean) since November: http://comic.naver.com/webtoon/list.nhn?titleId=24965&weekday=thu I don't think anyone is scanning it anymore since Naver started running their own English translations. Unfortunately, while most of their comics are up-to-date, the Magician ones are only up to chapter 50. http://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/magician/list?title_no=70 e: I'm bummed because the chapter ratings for part 3 are the highest they've ever consistently been.. Jose posted:I think its only a few chapters away from where the scans stopped for whatever reason It stopped because Naver wanted to start doing official translations and started coming after translators. Same reason the old Tower of God translations stopped. Fortunately, ToG was picked up from the latest chapter, whereas Magician started at the beginning. The old translations for Magician I believe went right up to season 3, so I'm planning a re-read now myself. It's been a really long time. Just started (and caught up on) reading unOrdinary and it's pretty good! It feels similar to Noblesse in tone but takes itself more seriously. I get the impression that John is being setup as the villain(?) of the series, with Sera being the vigilante-hero. I don't imagine the two of them meeting up again as friends, in any case. Sera feels like John taught her a life/moral lesson, and she's going to find out he was a liar and hypocrite. I wanna know more about John's dad and the repercussions to this forbidden book he's published. Seems like he's still walking free, which is a bit better than you'd expect from a near-dystopian authoritarian society.

Mulva posted:The thing is that John could brutally loving murder every single one of those idiot children and he'd still be morally neutral at worst. They are monsters who go around torturing anyone that can't fight back, and he's entirely justified in what he's doing here by the rules of their society. The people he is fighting will never learn, and never act better. Why is he the bad guy of the story for doing, at absolute worst, the same thing as every single other person in their society? Why would Sera be the hero, the only reason she isn't currently as big a monster as the rest of them is because of John. She was just as bad as any of them, she beat a kid to the point in our world it could nearly be fatal because he wouldn't give her his cake. That poo poo doesn't even fly in prison. John had a real bad day, doesn't mean he can't come back from it. I agree wrt John, which is why I put a '(?)' after villain. I don't know if it's quite the right term in this scenario; I just believe he and Sera will end up enemies. Sera has absolutely had a change of heart, which is why she stopped participating in things like the royals or upholding the social hierarchy - and that was before she encountered the book.

Not going to rez the Magician thread after the many years it's gone without a post, so I'll just mention it here for anyone interested: the Magician translation is now passed where the old one was and is releasing every week. It's still like 100 chapters behind the raws but what can you do. It's really good so you should read it.
