Oo, a pixel-art thread. Maybe I can finally learn some tips so my stuff doesn't look like rear end.

For actually useful content, may I suggest adding Pixen to the list of good image editors? It's Mac-only but is pretty much the greatest thing ever. Plus it's open source!

Messed around with both the suggestions of making the middle part less dark (top) or the top line darker (bottom), but to be honest I kinda prefer the gaudy nineties-ness of the original. Hm.

I still have trouble reading the bottom one, but the top one reads just fine to me.
