I'm looking at picking up a new Nvidia GPU in the ~$350-400 range. Is the GTX 770 a good choice? Is there anything else I should be looking at?

Edit: This will be backed by an i5-2500K, if that matters.

If you want to stick to the the bottom of that range I grabbed this one for $329.

I wanted nvidia and also the 2 of the 3 games that came with it were pretty important. The newest bios for that card ups the clocks a little bit also so take that in mind when you look at reviews.

No, my xbox and pc both go into a hdmi splitter which then goes to my surround sound, which then goes to my TV. I've replaced the HDMI splitter already and the xbox would be screwing up if it were any of the other things..

I had nearly this same problem a few days ago when I switched from 660 to 770. I ended up taking my hdmi splitter out of the loop completely and it went away. I think my hdmi splitter still works fine, just an issue with the card negotiating with it or something.

I know it's videocardz.com but here are some leaked 900 series slides with benchmarks.

If those number are in line, I'd expect the 970 @ $399 and the 980 @ $549 or so. I see an R9-290 on Newegg for $340 right now, so AMD may not have to adjust at all.

It said in the wccftech article that the 970 would be $329 and 980 $549

Now if that's true and the performance specs accurate as well, the 970 is a knockout deal.

No idea on the validity but I sure hope it is.

How can you tell which evga cooler is 1.0 and 2.0? I ordered one this morning and it already shipped but I was expecting the same noise levels as my current asus 770 and really do not want something louder.
I got this one

I have seen the Asus one in stock at newegg a few times and from the reviews I read I would prefer it to the MSI one.

I'm pretty sure the Asus Strix is free of coil whine as well.

I keep seeing the Asus Strix 970 popping up, is this the go-to card for the 970's or does it not matter much at this point?

It has the lowest set of problems of all them. Has concrete blocks to stop coil whine.

Using displayport? Its probably related to the GPU and not the monitor. I have similar issues. Basically Asus needs up hurry up and push a BIOS update. https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?59850-GTX-970-980-BIOS-update-for-DisplayPort-issues

I have this issue with an Acer gsync monitor, I hooked it up to my old 770 and it was fine. Thanks for this as I actually know what is wrong.
