What's The Emperor like

I like him a lot in Dissidia but I have no idea what the story of FF2 even is

His empire destroys the MCs home town so they join the resistance and eventually kill him but the Emperor is such a Bad Dude he procedes to become the Emperor of Hell so the party has to kill him again.
