SplitSoul posted:IIRC, one or two people finally found the thing at a yard sale or something and sold them on SA-Mart for a lot of money. I think someone started producing them, too. It's FiestaCat all over again. Nolen got his hands on one, reverse engineered it and is selling the pattern for $10. Send him a PM if you want to try making your own or can find someone willing to do it for you. I think he made some himself but goons were trying to lowball him on the price after the first couple sales, so he quit making them because he has other, more profitable, projects going on.

I was wondering about this one:![]() Its clearly based on psyduck, but I have no idea what happened to it after that, why it has multiple white dots instead of eyes, or why it's got what looks like a fin on its head. peepsalot posted:Holy Diver is a kickass song Rainbow in the Dark was too. The Last in Line wasn't bad either. I saw Aerosmith and Dio on the same night. Dio was awesome. Aerosmith sucked because they were all wasted as hell and missing their beat. 2/3 of the way through Aerosmith people were chanting "Diii-YOOO, Diii-YOOO," because he'd put on such a great show compared to Aerosmith. He sounded as good in concert as he did in the studio. It's actually this character, who I think is more or less the game's mascot.

I don't follow LoL anymore but I know for drat sure that emote came along for a good reason. Read some of the character lore sometime, it is embarrassingly bad/amateur (like Annie as a good example) or the original design of Lux before the community revolted. Why does Sports Argument Stadium* have an asterisk?

HelloIAmYourHeart posted:Why does Sports Argument Stadium* have an asterisk? I don't know how serious people are/were about it but, there was talk of putting asterisks by the names of sports Hall of Fame-ers who used steriods. As far as I remember it's just a reference to that.

This as well as Barry Bonds' record breaking home run has an asterisk put on it by the fan who caught it due to Bonds' alleged steroid use at the time.

I had always assumed it was from the old urban legend about how Roger Maris' 61 home run season was going to have an asterisk beside it to denote that he broke Babe Ruth's record of 60 homers in a 162 game season rather than a 154 game season like was the norm when Ruth played.

Wikipedia posted:In colloquial usage, an asterisk is used to indicate that a record is somehow tainted by circumstances, which are putatively explained in a footnote referenced by the asterisk.[8] This usage arose after the 1961 baseball season in which Roger Maris of the New York Yankees broke Babe Ruth's 34-year-old single-season home run record. Because Ruth had amassed 60 home runs in a season with only 154 games, compared to Maris's 61 over 162 games, baseball commissioner Ford Frick announced that Maris' accomplishment would be recorded in the record books with an explanation (often referred to as "an asterisk" in the retelling). In fact, Major League Baseball had no official record book at the time, but the stigma remained with Maris for many years, and the concept of a real or figurative asterisk denoting less-than-official records has become widely used in sports and other competitive endeavors. A 2001 TV movie about Maris' record-breaking season was called 61* (pronounced sixty-one asterisk) in reference to the controversy.
