Whenever you're amazed that someone blew a relative fortune on such a stupid emoticon, remember that emoticons used to cost a lot less, so it was saner to buy a whole series of related emotes like the phone ones. Of course, that doesn't excuse stuff that happened in the last year or two like the Mass Effect collection.

That thread started out being named "Description: Maine Coon 2.jpg", which was the filename of the image in the third post on Wikipedia (and it's still there, just not on the page for "cat" any more). It's gone through an awful lot of names since then but DAT FUKKEN CATTE was far from the first.
