This wasn't what I thought I would be looking for/buying when I'm in Japan for the summer, but I guess it is now. Seems like I also know what I'll be trying as my next translation project. Gotta find me some of that sweet Ryuutama.

If I could think of a way to make, or to at least not lose money translating/publishing these, I would be tempted to try. But alas.

What's the level of difficulty in the language for the game books? With a little time and a bit of help from a dictionary for new words I can read/TL most light novels, and non-technical magazine articles. I've never looked at the text for one of these games though, and translating them is something I'd be quite interested in doing, for either fun or actually trying to get them out there.

I am also way down to throw money at those books. Also, does anyone know how the TL for Meikyuu Kingdom is going? I got the 2 main books myself, so if there's some way I can help with the effort I would be very glad to do so. Otherwise I will just have it be a personal project.

Does anybody here happen to know of any game stores in the Osaka/Kansai area? I found the Yellow Submarine in Namba, but it's just card games...I would love to get some Meikyuu setting books if I can manage it. Also, I'm taking Meikyuu into my own hands and am going to try to translate it myself. Not being in school, along with people who want to see it done will hopefully keep me going with it.

Maybe they'll have the rest of the Meikyuu cards, or even better, the color ones. Today I bought what I think is an older edition, since it's the black and white ones from the book in card stock, with backs on them. And they were out of the monster set, so I have everything except those. More exciting though, I grabbed Meikyuu Days, which looks to be the modern high school setting. It looks endlessly amusing.

That's probably what I'll end up doing once I TL them, at least for a personal copy. e: Also those are the old cards that I have, I have a feeling the new cards are better quality cardstock, since they seem to come in a box. e2: VVV They only seem to have the core books, and Days. Ok. Sorry if I over reacted too (I'm hungry and I have a very short fuse when I'm hungry). I've tried getting in contact with BitchtitsMcGee, and have not been successful thus far (for reasons mostly due to never being online at the same time), and that's why I'm doing it on my own, but I was definitely planning on trying to release it commercially if/when I actually finish it, especially after all the time and money I've already put into what I've done so far. e: If other things happen I would like to try to be involved somehow so my efforts haven't been completely to waste.

Is it just me, or is all of the power combination stuff in Double Cross not clearly explained in any one place? I've been going through the book for like 40 minutes and I still can't make heads or tails of it. I really want to like this game. So much of the setting is really cool, but there also seem to be a bunch of kinda lovely or underexplained systems that make me want to just import the cool stuff into Fate.

How does it factor into the numbers you're supposed to fill in? Mainly dice and attack power.

Yeah I use the index. It is definitely good, but I was having trouble piecing the information together once I got to the page one part of it was on. Nobody else in my group could figure combos out either. I'm half tempted to drop the mechanic completely (and probably this entire system once we finish our current scenario).

OH OK. I think I understand now. So, one last example to make completely sure I get it. Thor's Hammer(1) + Lightning Spear(1) + Lightning Attack(2) <RC> and [Mind] are 1 and 3 like before. Timing:Major; Skill:RC; Diff:Opposed; Target:Area(select); RNG:View; Encroach:7; Dice:2(+1); Crit:10; Atk:+16(Lightning Attack: 4; Thor's Hammer: 6; Lightning Spear: 6); Note: 1 use/Scenario. -1 die due to Spear (already factored in)
