Are things a lot more expensive in 0? They make millions of yen from that one fight and unless my memory is going millions of yen is enough to buy basically everything in previous games.

Yeah I just reached that point in the video. It looks like a pretty neat system.

So, for folks who played Y0 back in the day, anybody remember how Premium Adventure works? Are you able to, say, complete all the quests, unlock stuff, and put that into a NG+ run, or is it like 5, where Premium Adventure mode progress can't be transferred back into NG+?
If I remember right you can make a NG+ save out of your premium adventure save at any time, same as Kiwami and 6.

We got some serious shit to discuss.

Yep, reviews have been talking about how now you don't need to grind in combat in preparation for a tough fight, for example, and can instead go do some money making activities like the real estate minigame, or trying your luck at the casino to buff up a couple of skills. Everything ties back into potentially making your character better.

Also, that's great to hear about the NG+ stuff. I'm a hoarder in games and I like knowing that I could go back in and play with all my unlocked toys whenever I'd life.

yea I'm really into the money for everything system. The worst part of old games for me was that point when you feel you need to grind before a big showdown and are left with no options but running around like a moron waiting for someone to start a fight. With that I can go gently caress around in a casino or whatever if I feel I need a few more orbs of punching.

If I blast through the main story in Yakuza 1 and 2 and barely touch side content am I missing out on any STORY CRITICAL content?

The side story characters occasionally appear in weird places in future games (more so than ever between 0, Kiwami, and 6) but if they do it will be accompanied by a quick reminder of what was before.

Nice, thanks. I'm almost done with Yakuza 1 (it owns) and I have 2 on deck but I'm probably going to hold off on playing it until I'm done with 0. Hopefully mixing the order up so crazily doesn't mess up the experience.

I've changed a lot since I started hanging with Sonic, but I can't depend on him forever. I know I can do this by myself! Okay, Eggman! Bring it on!
Aside from Be My Baby in 2 I can't think of anything from the first two games worth going out of your way for.

yea the first two are very forgettable in terms of side stuff except for the hilarious baby fight one. It's not until 3 when stuff really starts opening up in a more fun way. Just blaze through the first two for the story, that's all that really matters in them.

and honestly there's nothing in there that you get less of than just watching the recaps in 3. those first two are pretty rough all around.

For some reason Yakuza 0 is not listed in any of the European PSN stores. Am I really going to have to get a physical copy to play the game on the 24th?

There's no preorder but you'll be able to buy it on the 24th, playing depends on how fast your internet is I guess.

While this thread is still related to Yakuza 5, I wanted to ask: anyone have any advice for the Coliseum?

I got all the way to the end of Saejima's Coliseum run: the endurance battle where you have limited health, but I got punked out at the very last enemy by only a few punches. It was enough to make me mad enough to give up on getting 100% Completion in Yakuza 5 for the immediate future but I'm definitely going to come back to wrap it up sometime and I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to help Saejima breeze through things? My original strategy for most Kiryu/Saejima fights was to bait out Tiger Drops, smack them once to undizzy them, then repeat but you don't really get the luxury of burning minuscule amounts of health fishing for Tiger Drops during the endurance battle. It also dawns on me that Akiyama and Shinada don't have Tiger Drop, so I'm going to need some kind of actual advice on how to clear the Coliseum with them because honestly I've sunk like 180 hours into this game and I want to wrap it up.

All I have left is the Coliseum, Amon, Sea Fishing, the cafe version of Pronto, the remaining HEAT actions, finishing the game, EX-Hard, and Ultimate Battles, and it's kind of something I'd like to finish at some point given that I have every other Yakuza platinum.

I honestly can't imagine anyone consistently having trouble as Saejima or Kiryu. All I can say is try again; I got Saejima's endurance run on the second try iirc. Akiyama has the really tough one since he has the lowest health to begin with. Spam normal flash kicks while holding L2 to disable HEAT moves. This stuns most enemies pretty consistently. The last few guys can block normal attacks, so don't bother with those unless you can get behind them. As for Shinada, don't forget he's got a healing move.

"Hey while I'm at it, I really want a physical copy of 5, so lemme just get that too..."

"And hey, how about a complete version of 3 without any stuff cut out of it?"

"Well if I'm getting 3 and 5, might as well get 4!"

So now I have Black Panther 1&2, Yakuza 1&2HD, 3, 4, 5, Kenzan, and Ishiin.

And I don't know Japanese.

I have a problem. :(

No, son, you *had* a problem. Now, you have the solution.

Also, just by the by, I would totally buy a full length, expanded "Haruka's Idol Journey" game if they completely doubled-down on making it just like the rest of the game; outrageous heat actions for mundane activities, over-the-top, the whole nine yards.
