Is there a google doc somewhere that we can add our names to, in order to share free pawns?

Bandits in Witchwood are pretty tough, the fighter bandit can 3-shot my Strider main. What do I have as options to evade before getting Roll? Just keep jumping/sprinting around?

Eddain

Expiring quests are really annoying. It makes you want to try to complete every quest you get the moment you get it, but the game doesn't tell you if you're ready for it yet. If you attempt it now you could get slaughtered, if you wait too long it could disappear.

At what point in the game are you allowed to switch Vocation?

All these escort quests are murder, man. First tried to help that one traveling merchant guy Benyard or something get somewhere, ran into a pack of invisible lizardmen and died.

Next I tried helping Selene reach the Healing Spring, but as I was following the quest marker I ran into a huge mountain range that I couldn't pass, so I tried going around, found a bandit camp and instantly got killed.

Luckily I saved a bit earlier, so I said gently caress it and decided to backtrack to Gran Soren in order to learn some new abilities and maybe change my class, it's dark by the time I'm halfway there, loving skeletons and ghosts start popping out at me, and when I finally, finally reach the city, some creepy group of robed sorcerers announce "We've been waiting for you Arisen!" and I'm suddenly getting blasted with magic up the rear end.

I was just endlessly rolling around (love that Strider skill) trying to stunlock the mages with Scarlet Kisses. I finally made it back to the inn and unlocked the Mystic Knight and Magick Archer classes, but I forgot to leave enough Discipline to actually learn some drat skills.

Also, gently caress snow harpies.

Just got my copy today, can any goons comment on how important staying focussed statwise as you level up is important, how punished will I be if I wanted to try out all the classes.

After you hit level 100 your stat gains take a huge hit. Ideally you'd probably wanna switch around a lot pre-70, then stay focused for the remainder.

So I finally decided to stop dicking around and actually start the main Wyrmhunter quest line. I decide to clear out the goblin fort, so I'm walking from Gran Soren to wherever the red marker is on my map. It gets dark about halfway through. Nothing too bad so far, just saurions (who my magick archer just loving explodes now) and goblins/hobgoblins.

It became absolutely pitch-black dark, even with everyone in my party holding a lantern (you can give your hired pawns lanterns and oil and they'll return them when they're dismissed). I hear my pawn say something about a goblin chieftain. So I start attacking the dude I see. Then I notice to his right is a loving cyclops. I pop out a magic flare arrow and bam, there were like 10 hobgoblins and a cyclops altogether.

I managed to wipe out the weaker guys pretty fast, then spammed the 10-shot seeker arrows on the cyclops as my guys wailed on him. But I was noticing random bursts of flame at my general direction, I had no clue what it was. And then I saw it. A loving drake was attacking me while I was fighting the cyclops. :argh:

How the hell do you even fight drakes? I realized you shot the wings to make it fall to the ground, but how do you safely attack the heart? The ground stomp move it does pretty much one-shots my team.

Is there an element to your basic ranged shot as a magick archer, or is it just generic magic?

Lately I've been hiring a Ranger pawn at all times since the AI is much better at sniping than I'd ever be, and I stock his inventory with various arrows. He'll actually use them too since I saw him poisoning a Cyclops and the arrow count dropping after the fight.

And has anyone noticed selling prices vary based on how ripe your timed items are? I think a normal beast-steak sells for around 300, but once it drops down to sour it jumps to 1,500 or so.

How much does the stuff for sale improve when you do main quests? How many do I have to do before it improves? I'm starting some now for the knight for the first time at level 25 and I'm still using the magic bow from the shop fully enhanced because I've not found anything better yet. I'm looking forward to wiping out full groups of goblins with a single hunter bolt.

I've only got 2 bow skills currently since I don't really like the look of the ricochet shot or flare shot. I kind of wish I could get some form of full bend that I still got to aim since I love knocking people off cliffs using it as a strider. I'll have to wait for explosive shot.

Also what augments would people recommend for magic archer? I think I need to change classes for a while to pick some up

Flare Shot is amazing for when you're trying to reach a rest area at night and can't see what you're fighting.

Strider has some decent Augments, mostly stamina related stuff. And I think sorcerer has +magic damage.

I recently switched over to Fighter from Magick Archer in order to pick up some augments. I really like Blink Strike and Skewer, and the general tankiness of the class, but I miss my double jump and roll. You could explore a ton of hidden areas by double jumping across gaps or onto high ledges. My weight is pretty gimped with all this heavy armor on too.

Eddain

I like how they actually separated armor and clothing in this game. If you only wore armor you'd be chafing like crazy from all the metal against bare skin.

Kinda odd how they categorized Chain Mail as clothing, though.

So the trick to getting the Golden Idol seems to be achieving the perfect result.

While escorting Symone, you have to stay close to her. If she ever asks you if you're trying to ditch her you already failed. Start over if that happens. When she plays hide-and-seek, she's either in the Inn or the Alehouse. Find her immediately. She'll then ask for some water, just carry a flask of water on you and give it to her immediately. When she races, let her win. You know you'll get the Golden Idol if you talk to her at Fournival's house and she asks if you're a good friend of her father's and if she'll see you again.

So how the gently caress do I catch this thief in the starting town? I hit him, try to grab him, he just shrugs it off and keeps running, I try to chase him, he runs out of town and I fail the quest, I try to just grab him straight up, he shrugs it off and runs out of town.

He's a fast fucker and I don't think you'd ever catch up to him even with the lowest weight on your main guy. He usually runs along a set path, coming up from the beach road and then running up towards the church. You can either wait in the market area for him to run by or go up to the roof of the market buildings and jump on him once he runs by. You have to hit him a few times until he's staggered, and then hold your grab button in order to catch him.

If you haven't yet, definitely get the Sinew augment from Fighter lvl 5. It increases your carry capacity by 10kg, which seems to be entirely frontloaded onto the "Very Light" bar rather than spread evenly throughout the entire thing.

Of course it loving saves before you receive your give so it was already too late once I received my golden egg. So I'm locked out of the best weapons of the game now? Love it when they make quests inscrutable as gently caress. :sigh:

This game has a weird save system. I thought I was hosed too since it saved right after finishing the quest, but if you had gone to the menu and picked the "reload last checkpoint" option you would've been sent back to your last inn save I believe.

So, out of curiosity before I pick this up, how feasible is it to solo the game? I feel like being a gigantic git, and running through it with a solo Fighter/Warrior. Is it possible, or am I better off abandoning the idea before I get in too deep?

Some status effects would probably mean instant gameover on a solo play, like enemies spamming sleep or petrification.

Or archers stunlocking you with arrows.

I bought the Focused Bolt core skill for my mage (hold [ ] to charge) but I have no clue how to use it. If I hold [ ] it just shoots out a fireball on its own, same as my normal X attack.

edit: nevermind figured it out, you really have to hold it for a long time.

Another question, are weapon elements not the same as elemental buffs? I remember when I used Thunder Boon on my staff my lightning balls bounced to nearby targets, but when I use a staff with an innate lightning enchantment it doesn't bounce.

Can anyone give me a run down of which Magic Archer skills are good? I don't use a staff, so ignore those. Also, what's a better Stamina augment? The MA's Potential or the Strider's Endurance? I guess I could use both...

Sixfold Bolt (6 homing ice arrows)
Hunter Bolt (10 homing arrows, it's one per small target or all 10 on a giant target)
Magical Flare (you can see at night!)

Those are the main three I used. I was only a magick archer up to 5, then I switched around to learn some augments. Gonna go back to it as my main class later on.

He will be. I had this happen to me; as far as I can tell it renders the quest impossible to complete, but it won't actually cancel because the game doesn't consider the fact that Maul won't give you his quest to be an issue. He still has the green quest icon above his head while he attacks you, so I guess the game thinks you can still do it somehow.

Is there a way to pacify NPCs that are pissed enough at you to attack on sight?

I went back to the bandit fort and Maul was actually neutral to me. I got his quest and everything.

On a side note, ogres really aren't that scary if you have a good sorcerer and two melee guys distracting it. Lassitude, the spell that slows enemies, makes the ogre a lot easier to manage.

I haven't really switched to Ranger because I find that you move REALLY SLOWLY with the longbow. Plus I have all these nice shortbow skills, and when you switch you only get to use your longbow skills. That, and I have this thing where I feel like I should finish leveling a vocation before starting another. I really like playing a bow-user in this game, so much better than dark souls or skyrim where it felt like such a pain in the rear end.

...I should really switch to Ranger huh :v:
