Also just beat 3, and I can totally see why it was super divisive. I fall on the "really loving loved the ending" side, however, but I'll still never ever forgive it for ch1 Some spoiler thoughts for the whole game: Killing Kaede, while it made total sense and the protagonist switch was great, still loving SUCKED because FINALLY I got to be a girl and not only that, a girl protagonist with an actual personality and who actually cared about things and wanted to DO things. If it had been the other way around (start as Shuichi, swap to Kaede) I would have liked it a lot more. Seeing the retrial and the fact that Kaede died for literally nothing makes it a thousand times worse and I had almost forgiven the game when I got to that point. Tsumugi as the mastermind was ultimately really good, though I was skeptical until she started doing all the costume changes. Miu was amazing and if you don't like her, you're wrong. Ultimately I'm totally fine with the ending; I definitely didn't see the reality show angle coming. I do like that they inserted a little bit of doubt into the conclusion in the post-credits scene, leaving it potentially open for the future. Kokichi's fakeout 'death' in Ch3 was the absolute best thing in the world and probably the funniest thing in the whole series. Also ... did anyone else ever use the Key of Love? Because ... uhhhhh .... Additionally, I didn't like that the game just flat out ate my inputs sometimes, often during Nonstop Debates. Really frustrating.

I'm sure she's fine with being avoided by a bunch of degenerate males

Maybe you just shouldn't spoil the game for her? Sounds like you're being the dick here

Cuntellectual posted:What do you mean? I might have missed that. I assume they're referring to the scene at the end where Shuichi, Himiko, and Maki emerge from the rubble to leave, and Shuichi mentions that some stuff didn't add up and Tsumugi could have been lying.

Kay Kessler posted:Regarding your comment re: the Ch6 investigation segment I'm pretty sure time only advances whenever you examine something in the environment or initiate a conversation. And even if you run out of time it just starts you out in the same room with the bar only half full. Time definitely passes while you're in a menu; I had to step away from the computer for a little bit and I thought being in the Monopad would pause it but nope.

Ending discussion: I've been thinking about it a lot and I'm just kind of confused over exactly how much of the series ended up being totally fiction; was there really a Hope's Peak? Did the first two killing games ever actually happen in any way outside of a reality show context? What does that mean for DR0?

it's hard for me to imagine agreeing with that when kiyo exists

character poll stuff Kaede -- we were robbed of her way too soon and it very nearly soured me on the game as a whole. still not over it. Himiko -- pretty boring at first but her arc REALLY redeemed her by the end, and I love her tiny lazy self to bits now. Miu -- love foulmouthed girls, love girls whom proud of their tits, really came together to make me like her a lot Tenko -- as a fellow man-hating lesbian i really connected with her. feel really bad about the way she went out. Kokichi -- fascinating how they made a characters whose main traits were 'liar' and 'antagonist' endearing and interesting. Angie -- everything about her is loving adorable. Gonta -- gonta ... idiot. lovable idiot. Maki -- extremely solid sidekick character and even though she lasted the whole game i never felt like she got QUITE enough characterization. Kirumi -- went out way too early. big maid fan here, wish we got to see more of her. Shuichi -- the absolute definition of a middle of the road character. god i wish they swapped kaede and shuichi. Kaito -- as far as bro characters go I guess he's all right but it's not an archetype I ever really enjoy. Ryoma -- again, criminally low characterization, but I guess I liked what I saw. Tsumugi -- only redeemed at the very very end, but that doesn't make up for being boring the majority of the game. Keebo -- hard to be more bland than a DR protagonist but somehow he manages it. Rantaro -- see Keebo. he could have been cool if he didn't die in the first two minutes, but even then 'guy who lived before' isn't much of a character trait. Korekiyo -- buddy, you gross.
