Because I'm an impatient chump idiot, I read through the rest of SDR2 via other sources online last week. Gonna keep my reactions vague, but big ol' SDR2 spoilers below: Chapter 5 completely gutted me. I don't think I've ever had such a sense of dread upon a revelation while playing/watching a video game as I did when they figured out what was going on in that trial. I'd pretty much figured out Nanami's overall role by that point so seeing what was happening was a complete "oh gently caress no" moment. I was legitimately bummed out for a solid half a week after finishing it all. Still though it was a hell of a ride overall and they did a really good job pushing the "yo this is hosed up" envelope in that final chapter. I'm not about to buy a whole console for one game, but if I were dumber with my money I'd pick both games up and a Vita in a heartbeat.

The whole of chapter five was brilliantly done, really I think any game that can make you feel that much of a gutpunch is doing its job fantastically.

Yeah, good point. Man I hate that this thing is on a console, I want to play it properly so bad but I cannot justify buying a Vita for it.

Only Nagito's gets the normal regretful remark from Hajime, the other dead people's cottages have some glitchy poo poo going on. I think I read on tumblr or somewhere that the lines you get here are warped versions of what appear to be the dead kids' last thoughts.

So almost 8 fuckin years after orenronen's LP ended and I decided to dig up some lovely translation online to sate my curiosity, I finally sat down and played a Danganronpa game (2) this past week. God drat this series is so stupid in so many ways but I really do love it, 2 in particular. Don't know why we're still spoilering but: Nanami's story still hits me like a sack of hammers. Something about the emotional core of her and Hinata's arc resonates with me in a way I can't describe. Chapter 5 is so loving powerful and the end of the game is extremely anime in all the best ways.
