The bonus "IF" story you unlock after beating the game warned me not to play it unless I had done some specific poo poo in the first game (notably, clearing a certain character). Is that actually a real warning, or should I feel free to ignore it?

Crossposting this from the general games thread now that I can post here without worrying about spoilers:

I've been thinking about the ending a bit more and there's a few ways the villain's story doesn't add up. Combined with the weird lines that even the characters notice, I think there's a solid case to be made that the story as presented isn't actually what's going on, at least not in its entirety. The inconsistencies, off the top of my head:

If Kaede was a fictional character in a TV show, Tsumugi should have been able to cosplay her without cospox
The official line is the participants are ordinary people who were brainwashed into thinking they were Ultimates and told to fake it until they make it. This makes sense for some of the talents, but is completely impossible for people like Miu and Angie, and if Kaede had lived longer wouldn't have been plausible for her either
The opening cutscene doesn't match what Tsumugi told us happened before the game started. I think. My memory isn't perfect

Obviously a sequel would ruin everything but I hope that the answers are possible to figure out on a second playthrough by an attentive reader. That reader isn't gonna be me though cause there's no way I'm playing again.

Someone in that thread gave some answers I wasn't satisfied with. I don't buy the expansion that Kaede was cosplayable because she wasn't fictional. Her actor wasn't fictional but Kaede, the person who wore those clothes, was. They also said the flashback lights have competence in the ultimate abilities but I remember Tsumugi saying the exact opposite of that.

Yeah some things fall into place if things are more scripted then I had assumed. My read was Tsumugi established the setting and characters but beyond that it was more reality TV where the interactions were unplanned. That's why she had to rely on blunt instruments like the motives.

I also just remembered the necronomicon. It's possible that things were scripted enough that there was no chance it would ever be used but if it was less scripted they'd need a plan for that and I have no idea what it would be.

Is it bad that i still want another game, I HOPE there will be a new one

It means you disagree with the author's message that DR deserves to die

DR4 existing would spit in the face of DRv3's ending so I don't want it
