I think it would be hilarious if, for the third game, you just straight up played as Junko, right from the start, no explanation given. She doesn't offer any insight into the game, either, and seems just as clueless as Hinata or Naegi did.

Also, my bets are on the third game having a half green cat. Mononeko.

It's the first I've heard of them. Pity Ibuki dropped the K-On reference but I guess it would have sounded weird in english, plus it wouldnt make sense to anyone who didnt get the reference.

Honest to hell, don't you think they should have changed it to punk musician? Just saying 'musician' is going to get real tangled if they introduce a Super High School Level Violinist or something down the road.

How do you pronounce Kibōgamine Gakuen?

I'm playing DR1 now. What free time events are best for the trial skills? I know Yamada gives a healing one.

I like the idea that they don't gently caress around and that Junko is the protagonist, with no explanation. That would e a good reason to keep it contained as long as possible.

Alternative idea, the protagonist is Junko, but for some mysterious reason she's gotten hugely fat.

So what's that costume fes business down at the bottom of that link?

I was wondering about them, Aoi was the only one that we didn't get any follow up on after DR2.

... I'm pretty sure Hagakure crawled into a bong and never came out, which would answer that.

No loving shop in my city had this game. I'm beyond mad. I ordered directly from NISA, here's hoping they ship fast.

Is there a skill guide and/or gift guide for SDR2? Google reveals nothing.

Where is the monomono machine in SDR2?

Also, I seem to remember something about being able to go back and do free time events with people by replaying chapters. How does that work?

In the SDR2 Let's Play, I thought orenronen said that there was something that you could get only by doing one of Komaeda's free times at a certain time. What was going on with that, exactly?

I didn't like Chapter 4 for a bunch of reasons, and the motive is one of them. If Gunham really wanted to sacrifice himself, he wouldn't have made them go through the entire trial figuring out who it was. He went through the Final Dead Room, set up the complicated murder scene, all before confronting Nidai. For all his magnanimity in defeat, let's face it, he was planning on graduating. If Nidai had successfully defended himself, he would have likely immediately confessed to get everyone out.

Chapter 4: I have wondered forever what would happen if someone, right at the start of the trial, was all, "Yo, it was me, 100%, here's how I did it, here's the murder evidence, here's the footage off my phone, fire up the execution." I'm sure Monokuma would find a reason to get pissy for some reason.

Chapter 3 drives me nuts because the drat murder is so needlessly complex. I still don't understand the camera thing, or the wad of gum or whatever was on the doors. Mikan probably could have gotten away with it if she quit leaving evidence all over the drat place. Also, it bugs me that her motive was, "Well, hell, it's a good day for murderin'!" Despair fever isn't a good enough excuse, Akane, Nagito and Mioda all had it and they didn't murder anyone.

I'd be curious to know more about the victims in chapter 3 being switched.

I always assumed Makoto was the way he was because he was a riff on the Typical lovely Anime Protagonist. His English VA also did Tiz Arrior and his Japanese VA was loving Shinji Ikari, the ur-lovely Protagonist. That should be enough to tell you something. One of the fun things about Dangan Ronpa is that it KNOWS it's anime as hell, so it does stuff like having a complete doof talk nonstop about hope very purposely and ironically.

That's one of the things that makes Komaeda so drat great, is that he takes the tropes that Makoto was highlighting anyway and twists them around until they're crazy cakes. He's doubling down on the ironic lovely anime protagonist deal.

Realtalk, every time I think about Naegi going on about believing in his friends, I can't help but think of the last song from Parappa The Rappa 2. "But most important, you gotta believe!" That song would have totally fit in the last trial of DR1.

Is Kirigiri in DRAE? I find it weird that they'd put Togami in there and not here.

There's a new DR game coming to iOS. I hope they bring it over here. (Or, I'll have to remember my Japanese account password I guess.)

PS, no word on DR:AE in the US?

But can you trust Nagito when he says that he's sick? I was never totally sure if he wasn't crazy and lying during that scene.

EDIT: ps, happy birthday yesterday to Hinata

That's something I love about DR: either the other Monokumas are there to cover up the students, or the game is legit going to be 100% all Monokumas all the time.
