Captain Disillusion uploaded a new video recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrZdkd4TmGs He doesn't upload often, but when he does they're great. He explains the methods behind a lot of hoax viral videos and how they are created. In this case, however, he explains how a video is actually real (for the most part) and debunks the debunkers. I feel like this guy doesn't get nearly enough love, as the quality of his stuff is always top notch and very educational, intentional cheesiness aside.

Parallel Paraplegic posted:Man videogames are goddamn weird now I think the facial expression motion capture in LA Noir is the best yet. As these things get closer to realism, it becomes more and more subconsciously unsettling. I think it will continue to be until we hit the point where we can't tell if it's fake or not. I recently saw the movie Life of Pi and was very impressed with the CGI, especially the tiger. I was wondering multiple times during the movie if they combined a CG tiger with a real one to make it more believable, but apparently the whole thing was CG. Very impressive. Granted we are quite a few years away from that sort of realism in games, but it's getting there. I think LA Noir was a big step in the right direction for effectively reproducing motion captured actors.

NuttO posted:Your post reminded me of one of my favourite videos: Bjork and PJ Harvey performing a cover of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction at the 1994 BRIT Awards. Of course, being from 1994, the only versions on YouTube were usually ripped from an old VHS so the quality would vary wildly and they would be taken down for one reason or another. As it turns out, there is an official BRITs channel and they uploaded a pretty nice version earlier this year. I've never seen this before, thanks!
