I'm really happy you came back for a really weird 'it's political correctness gone maaaaaad' thing when the topic was over. Anyway, next Friday's episode looks awesome, but I think we all really need closure on this whole 'wax Larry King's head is loose in the vents' thing, there's no way that's a good thing for anyone.

So where are you guys seeing the new one? Is this still the 'if you don't have some dumb cable provider you're SOL' thing, because if it is that makes me sad. The next one looks like a giant spoof of the National Treasure movies, and if it is I'm so amped.

So I finally got to see the new episode, holy poo poo this is the best one. "I'M GONNA LEGALIZE EVERYTHING!" Also, literally everything with the secret president, I want him to have his own show.

Filthy Haiku posted:Or you know, they could his children from a previous marriage. There isn't particularly anything unwholesome about that, kid's shows address divorce as a thing that happens all the time. Disney has pushed the "Families come in all shapes and sizes" idea (mostly as a marketing device, but it's progress), and I wouldn't be surprised if same sex couples started showing up in family shows more often. It'll be enamored fan if it's ever even called attention to, but I'd legit love it if it was just totally treated it as totally normal because hey, there's loving copy machine clones and poo poo all around who cares if my dad is with crazy shorts dude. On the topic of actual 'romances' on the show, Dipper and Wendy are awesomely done, it fits the whole younger kid with a crush on someone older thing really right to show it as both awkward and hilarious for everyone but the one with the crush.

Crasscrab posted:I'm in love with the fact that Gregg Turkington (AKA Neil Hamburger) does the voice for Toby Determined, the old timey reporter. If you're not familiar with Turkington's stand-up comedy character Neil Hamburger you should know that he's got quite the vulgar shtick, comprising primarily of him getting up on the stage, hacking and coughing a lot, insulting the audience, drinking from one of the multiple drinks he slowly collects in his arms as his routine progresses, and telling horrible jokes. I love Turkington, I had no idea he was the voice. I need him to just angrily start accusing Dipper of things, now, I wanna see a G-Rated Neil Hamburger routine happen.

Slamhound posted:The audience of Gravity Falls includes adults but is aimed at children, and the characters and the lessons they learn are supposed to be in some measure decent; the audience is supposed to agree with them. On the other hand the core moral in the episode that's making people freak out was 'be who you want to be and don't let others decide what's right for you' so I think we're ok still!

Any episode with the line "Studies show having a ladder in the house is more dangerous than having ten guns. That's why I own ten guns, in case some maniac breaks in with a ladder!" is basically perfect.

Also just because I love it so much I have to add it into the note, S&P had them cut a scene from the lake monster episode with Manly Dan punching fish because, partially, they don't approve of 'fish being humiliated', that's a thing they don't like. S&P you magical beast.
