As a designer this is THE WORST loving INFOGRAPHIC EVER. I hate that infographics have become this trendy thing. What part of this (except maybe the side-by-side comparisons) would not be better as an article? Look at the tower records part. Instead of saying "Tower records had over 200 stores in 2002 and by 2012 was completely bankrupt" you make the reader read, count and multiply and then give them no other information, loving sweet!

Can you really blame Ikea for that? I'm pretty anticorporate but what are they supposed to do? I guess not do business in Saudi Arabia. Basically, gently caress oppressive regimes. Haha I just realized that even though Chavez isn't MaleGazin' the guy in the back totally is.

Suleman posted:AFAIK: Interestingly enough, the mosaic tradition in the Middle East was inherited from the Byzantine Empire. Muslims, however, brought it to perfection. Much like they carried on and further developed the sciences from Rome and Greece. Basically what I'm saying is that the Muslim world was cool as poo poo back in the day. The Rome thread would be so mad at you for using the term Byzantine Empire. prefect posted:I could swear my Near Eastern History professor in college said that they got so geometry-crazy because Islam didn't like them drawing pictures of people. Been a while since I was in college, though. This is also a common conjecture, given that Islam is very against iconography.

I didn't know Mohawk rap was a thing, cool. Here's the really messed up story of the soldier in that famous photo. quote:Patrick Cloutier was granted an "accelerated promotion" to the rank of master corporal. In May 1992, after admitting to occasional cocaine use, Cloutier was demoted to the rank of private and received a sentence of 45 days in a military prison. Subsequently on December 9, 1993, Cloutier was discharged from the Canadian Forces, after being found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident and causing bodily harm while driving under the influence of alcohol. Cloutier was convicted of ramming a double-parked car, injuring its two occupants and a 16-year-old passenger in Cloutier's own vehicle.
