The Irish language is loving deader than disco, it just doesn't know it yet. I recently spent two weeks in the Gaeltacht and the only major difference was that the signs were in Irish. Still speaking English, still flogging the same shitey tourist crap everywhere. The vast, vast majority of Irish speakers know precisely one phrase: An feidir liom dul go dti an leithreas? (Can I go to the bathroom?) because it was loving drilled into their heads in school. No one wants to learn or use Irish because hey, all our media is English and American imports anyway, and half of loving D4 is West Brit shithawks anyway who desperately want to go back to being a part of Britain so they can be part of a "real" country, and all this concillatory crap they push with the Queen and the north is part of that.  If you want a picture of modern Ireland imagine this shower trawling Cork, Dublin and the Gaeltacht forever.
