Justifiably Mad!
I know this thread is mostly focused on the 40k side of fiction, but are there any Warhammer Chronicle omnibuses that should definitely be read, or are great reads? I've currently read the following;

- Gotrek and Felix V1
- Witch Hunter
- The Empire (Not Heroes or Knights, just called purely The Empire)
- Elves Omnibus

On my list to buy are;

- Gotrek and Felix V2
- Heroes of the Empire
- Tyrion and Teclis
- The Blackhearts (Omnibus is on Abebooks atm)

I'm pretty sure I don't want to read Warriors of the Chaos Wastes, I'm interested in story and character, and I'm afraid those omnibuses may just be pure combat porn-esque. I'm interested in more in the character/world setting side of things. I also would like to get the Dwarf Omnibus and Vampire Wars (Stone and Steel, I think?), but unfortunately neither are available for cheap anymore.

I just got the following Fantasy books off Abebooks for cheap-ish.

Gotrek and Felix V2
Heroes of the Empire
Tyrion and Teclis
Blackhearts
Masters of Stone and Steel.

I hear they're all pretty good. Where is that Underworld Story collected?

I picked up Omnibus 3 and 4 of Gotrek and Felix. I know the switch from King to Long as authors is controversial to some, but I'm still looking forward to the books.

i actually like long better :shobon:

Yeah, I really liked his Blackhearts stuff so I'm thinking I'll like his Gotrek/Felix as well. His Blackhearts stuff is near my favorite Warhammer Fantasy stories, especially since, unlike Witch Hunter or other series, the Blackhearts actually capture all the baddies and have a happy(ish) ending.

I enjoyed the books these two collections are made of. The ones that I can still remember liking in particular were Orcslayer (some really wild stuff happening in this one, not sure which author wrote it), Elfslayer, and Shamanslayer (learning how beastmen work was pretty horrifying).

Long's first book is Orcslayer, glad to hear it'll be interesting.

I actually ended up getting both Omnibuses on the same day, which is surprising since one of them announced they had just shipped (must've been a delayed announcement). Sadly, the omnibus 3 I got is the original edition and missing a few short stories, or maybe those short stories are just not listed in the Table of Contents. Oh well, I'm sure it's of little consequence.

So I'm working my way through Gotrek and Felix V4, and noticed a funny thing. These novels, along with the Blackhearts Omnibus, Witch Hunter Omnibus, and the Heroes of the Empire Omnibus, were all written when Storms of Chaos was a thing, before the 8th edition retcon to make room for The End Times.

Does anyone have a list of which Warhammer Chronicle novels technically take Storms of Chaos into a ccount, and which ones retcon it to make room for The End Times? Obviously all the End Times novels are the latter, but I'm wondering if up to the End Times novels all the other ones were pre-8th Edition.

Enjoying Nathan Long's work a lot.

So I wrapped up Gotrek and Felix under Nathan Long and see the next Omnibus changes authors again. I've been warned to avoid Omnibus 6, but is 5 still worth it? Can't seem to find a copy unfortunately on any used book sites.

Almost finished the first Malus Omnibus, despite my initial expectations I kinda enjoyed them, not my usual cup of tea to read about a (villainous) protagonist who keeps sabotaging themselves through their impetus, but it's got its charm. Also, lot of Dark Elves dying is always good.

Also found the Warhammer Ambassador Omnibus for 10 bux, it's got Graham McNeill writing it, so it should be good.

Wish they reprinted the Warhammer Chronicles more often though. They just re-released the Blackhearts Omnibus, but it's the same as the original version. Want to get my hands on physical copies of The Sundering, War of Vengeance, and Vampire Wars.
