Was one of the Emporer's goals to kill all the xenos, or was that another thing started by the Inquisition?

Finished Storm of Iron a couple weeks ago, and am halfway through Battle of the Fang. If Chris Wraight keeps this up, I think he'll earn a spot next to Abnett and ADB.

The best part in Honour Guard was when the chaos Baneblane shows up and a bunch of Ghosts freak out and run away. Hark goes to execute them for cowardice and Gaunt swats his gun down and says "that's a Baneblane you fething idiot".

Good times.

I just finished reading The Siege of Castellax, it was alright.

I kinda feel blueballed because what could have been the best part of the story doesn't end up happping at all and only given a single sentence later in the book. That is the Iron Warriors having possession of a comatose alpha-level pysker that even they're afraid to risk waking up. The author really dropped the ball on this. It also seemed Werner doen't really know how long a kilometer is. Two examples: An Obliterator single-handedly defending a 3km stretch of wall during a massive WAAAAGH!!!! and a space marine picking people off with a bolt pistol at 2.5km.

Maybe they can do that, I dunno.

How is Gildars Rift?

They should just get the narrator from Dawn of War: Dark Crusade to do them all.

Guy Haley just released a Space Marine Battle novel that I was thinking of picking up. Has anyone read it, or his Baneblade novel?

What other stories, aside from Nemesis and the short from the Iron Warriors omnibus, can I read about Eversor assassins? Aside from a Greater Demon or maybe a dreadnaught they seem like the toughest things in the galaxy.

How much control or influence does a founding chapter have over the ones who share their gene-seed?

I just finished The Emperors Gift and I'm wondering if the Inquisition pulled that poo poo with the Imperial Fists or the Ultramarines, would they be going up against dozens of other chapters?

I'd put Legion of the Damned in there with these as well. Kersh is probably the most interesting Space Marine I've read about.

I've read Cadia Stands, Dark Imperium and The Emperor's Legion.

I just finished Of Honor and Iron. Pretty meh overall.

One hilarious part in it was a bunch of space marines are defending a planet from the Iron Warriors and they've accepted that they're all going to die. One of them says "At least we'll be killed by the Archenemy. Could you imagine being killed by the Tau?"

Just started re-reading the Nightlords trilogy (it's been a while). I'd forgotten how funny that blook is right off the bat.

The whole exchange after Uzaz has been complaining about the Blood Angels insulting them by sending initiates after them and then Cyrion having to switch off his comms so they don't hear him laughing when he finds out Uzaz got wounded by one is perfect and sets the tone right away

One of the funniest moments comes in book 3, that collective 'Oh poo poo' that squad gives out when they're confronted by the space marine champion.

In 40k, are there any examples of mortals being granted incredible power, or is that reserved just for heretical marines? At best, mortal worshipers get to enjoy brief moments of their god's attention before exploding into gore as a sacrifice (though being chosen for that is the reward for some). It seems like fantasy chaos is a much more level playing field since you don't have genetically enhanced post-humans to compete with.

In Storm of Iron by Graham Mcneill, there's an Iron Warriors soldier/slave that puts on some power armor and ascends to a servant of Khorne.

When I was reading Dark Imperium I got the impression that Marneus Calgar (Ultra Chaptermaster) was feeling pretty resentful that Guilliman all but kicked him the the curve. I could see some civil war happening between the Primaris and vanilla Space Marines.

We also have a lot of loyal Primarchs that can still wake up or come back from the warp.

Considering we are, both, going through the Easter period, and going through The Lockdown, I figured it a good time to put a silver lining onto the cloud that is some of the darker moments during this time. So I've decided to polish some old skills and try my hand at some new ones! It is a time of rebirth after all. So, as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet...which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I've been following but not actively doing, is this. A company called Games Workshop...or plastic crack as "we" call it. Genuinely can't get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can't hide from it now. Also, in the background of this photo, there may just be some completely new skills I'm working on.....or there may not be, so all of your eye squinting and attempts at digital unfocusing will be in vain....orrrr maybe they won't.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of the NHS (National Health Service, here in the UK) and healthcare workers worldwide, for your unceasing efforts to protect us. I imagine it might be feeling a little rough right now, but you Ladies and Gents are absolutely smashing it! Keep it up! You got this. "Hold on a second", I hear you utter....."if he has both hands in the photo...how is he taking the photo??" New skills, my friends....new skills.

It's not Space Marines, but Cadia Stands is a lot of fun. It focuses on IG canon fodder during the fall of Cadia. Just avoid Cadian Honor. That book loving sucks.

How could the Black Legion travel through the warp with the shard of Cadia in the first place to deliver it to Volense or whatever it’s called

In the Fall of Cadia book, the pillars didn't nullify the warp until they were activated by Trazyn. I'm not sure what 'activation' entails.

Tbqh the only 40k books I read are Cain and Abnett. Any one shots or small series I should read? (I did read the BFG trilogy without the 3rd)

Hellsreach by ADB
Legion of the Damned by Rob Sanders
Wrath of Iron and Battle of the Fang both by Chris Wraight

All are single novels and solid botler porn. The lead character in Legion of the Damned is my favourite depiction of a Space Marine.

Just finished up the Fabius Bile books. I always just thought of him as a Dr. Moreau rip-off, and to a large extent he is, but his whole "third way" shtick is a really refreshing departure from the normal Imperium / Chaos dynamic. The secondary characters in the books are generally pretty interesting as well, and there's some really fun fluff that gets factored into the plot. Would highly recommend these to anyone who has given them a pass based on a lack of interest in the protagonist.

Really excited now to see how he factors into the Psychic Awakening and Dark Imperium stuff now.

Do we ever get an answer on why Abaddon didn't just kill the guy?

I still think Necropolis is the best GG novel, but Sabat Martyr has a couple great moments.

The squad that gets locked out of the fortress when the doors close, so they drive into the enemy and kill over 200.

Mkoll stalking and killing the dark eldar mandrake might be one of my favourite badass moments in all of 40k.
