Feeders: 1980 Royals, 1982 Blue Jays, 1986 Mets, 1998 Mets, 2002 Rockies, 2010 Diamondbacks, 2012 Orioles Google Doc with Team Info & RefIDs: Here. code:
Ace starting pitching Ace relief pitching Darryl Strawberry was my final cut. Decided to keep Jones in the minors because he can play all three outfield positions and Darryl was never that great a fielder. Also, I'm a little overloaded with lefties as is. It's really hard dropping the first player you ever loved from a video game roster. I also left some other good to decent stuff by the wayside, the 2012 Orioles still have more good relievers, Justin Upton on the 2010 Diamondbacks, etc. And on the final team I've got three gold glove 140 OPS+ first basemen, that's really at least one more than I need. Ideally I'll add another pitcher and find a way to ease the glut at 1B. habeasdorkus fucked around with this message at 18:34 on Jun 9, 2014 |

Quick question, when does the Expansion Cup thing begin? I kind of want to see my glorious new team in action.

OK, 2 more quick questions: Is there a database I can use to pull my players IDs to make things easier? And I can't remember if you can set wall heights in Baseball Mogul, or just LF Line, Power Alley, Center Field, Power Alley, RF Line.

Zodiac5000 posted:In Summary: I have Adam Jones, Chris Young, and Darryl Strawberry. All three give you dingers, Young and Jones give you plus defense in the corners as well. The 1986 Strawberry will cost you the Big Train. Also, can I drop Keith Hernandez to my feeders and bring Darryl up to the bigs? Or will that have to wait until after the EC? I want to swap Ron Darling in for Daniel Hudson as well. habeasdorkus fucked around with this message at 21:13 on Jun 16, 2014 |

Pitching To the minors with Gura and Ayala, move Quiz to middle relief, bring up McDowell for LR, bring up Hudson for Gura. Hitting Drop Dykstra to the minors, bring up Jones. Bench Young and start Jones in his spot. Strategy Set "pitch through trouble" to 0 Going to give Wilson another month before I drop him from the lineup. He was a loving MVP candidate in 1980, how can he be so terrible here? Also, how does this pickem thing work, and what is the reward for winning? habeasdorkus fucked around with this message at 21:12 on Jun 18, 2014 |

That is some boom and bust offense thar. First things first: Fire my pitching coach. O'Day is toast, so Ayala to short relief and Orosco to setup Drop Machado for Washington. Flip Larry Walker and George Brett in the lineup Dunno what's gotten into Brett, he was the whole reason I took the 1980 Royals. You'd think a 203 OPS+ would translate better. habeasdorkus fucked around with this message at 12:36 on Jun 20, 2014 |

Given how badly my pitching and some of my offense has performed, I guess I should be pretty happy with being a game over .500. Keep things as they are from now. Dave Sieve will recover, it's just small sample size!

I was hoping against hope that Satch would fall to me, but alas I'll have to go with Cy Young, 1910 edition. This could end up being awful considering my suspect defense. eta: I saw that Zuvella had picked Maddux v.88, so I figured I was on the clock.

Smasher Dynamo posted:EVERYONE STOP! I'm going by the super league website, where he's been at worst an average starter and more often a 130 era+ pitcher in the top division as a 43 year old. I tried picking actual good players in the expansion cup, just to watch George Brett be awful at the plate and even worse on the field despite putting up a 9-10 WAR year in real life. Also, both Maddux's were taken by the time I picked. And my biggest need is starting pitching. And no one else has as good a history, as much as I love Curt Schilling. eta: Edited for clarity. Also, I know Brett won't be that bad again, at least based upon his numbers in past super leagues, but he was the sole reason I picked that Royals team. Likewise, Dave Sieve (he'll always be that to me now) being so terrible that it made me regret taking his team. Oh, and since I'm not in the DH league I need to offload one of 2002 Todd Helton or 1999 John Olerud (aka that dude who wears a batting helmet in the field, according to Rickey). I'll take basically anything for Helton, Olerud will cost more. Helton has a mixed record in SL in his 2003 incarnation, but works out to about a 110-120 OPS+ bat. John Olderdude is not necessarily better, but has a much more proven track record. I have PMs, so feel free to send offers. habeasdorkus fucked around with this message at 03:59 on Jul 24, 2014 |
