And since you get like 75 War Assets per promotion, and I don't know what the bare minimum you can get just running through the game is, I'm somewhat hesitant to promote since I've already done it a few times.

If they had an option to get credits, or some kind of awesome Promotion Pack, instead of War Assets, I'd certainly have no problem raising my N7 level.
