shenzhen has a fully electric taxi fleet made by byd, and while they seem kind of cheaply made they're fine. perfectly serviceable for what they are.

Honestly with maybe 2000 miles a year it's probably not worth regulating at this point. I think they're limited to 25mph by law but most can do more than that if only slightly Florida is one horrific crash away from needing legislation on this. The boomers puttering around their gated communities has bled out into the suburbs and I frequently see tagged-and-registered gas golf karts with big chrome wheels and colored LED lighting all over them being driven down 50mph six lane roads at 35mph with two (drunk) adults in the back, and at least three kids scattered around various places with a teenager driving. Its seen as a cool way to go to the bar and not need a legal DD.

VW Transporter 3 hippie van with trailer. Ballsy, hauling a trailer with a shed on wheels with 75ish hp. They were stranded there. One of the drive shafts had disappeared. I helped push them to a safer place. Don't have a better picture, took this one from a distance before realising they were stuck there and cycling over to come help.

You basically never see Lincolns advertised in old news papers. This dude took out an ad, not a classified, just a regular-rear end ad to sell his used car, and a year old Lincoln with 19,000 miles is still worth twice what a new Buick Le Sabre was. That innovative car that was going to save AMC? The rotary powered Pacer that was designed to use the Chevrolet rotary engine discussed in the article.

Very good! https://ateliereaurouge.com/marlboro-livery/ quote:You just woke up and start off the day with a breakfast which happens to be a lady you brought home the day before, she was cheering you up on your practice sessions. After breakfast, you open a bottle of beer and grab your Marlboros. You smoke the pack and go to work. Your office looks like the pack of Marlboros you just finished. POV you are James Hunt driving for McLaren. Your racing suit has a badge that reads Sex breakfast of champions. Its 1976. The heyday of playboy racers in which tobacco and racing go hand in hand. Fun fact: A company I worked for had a physical copy of the official Style-Guide documentation for Marlboro livery. It included paint codes for various brands of automotive paints, CMYK and RGB values for print-press and rules of separation from other brands. Man I wish that was a book that 'followed me home' one day.

Missed the Marlboro-liveried Penske Indycars, one of which was so loving fast at Indianapolis that it destroyed the series for nearly 15 years. Edit: also the engine in this car is so loving nuts it has a whole loving book dedicated to it that is worth a read.

PBCrunch posted:Would that be kind of a special case because large American iron was still good in 1972 but had turned into smogger garbage with a million vacuum hoses by 1975? Not really. It's just that that Lincoln, new, cost more than a starter house. Those same houses now 50 years older are $500,000. They actually sold more 73s than 72s. As far as i can tell, people were more or less indifferent to the smog stuff. They could see the need for it in the air, and it obviously wasn't known to be difficult to maintain until years afterwards. No different than 6.0 and 6.4 f-250s still out-numbering 5.9/6.7 cummins trucks of the same year which had fewer emissions controls. That was also 4 months before the oil crisis, after which doing that same 19,000 miles would have meant waiting in a gas line for over an hour around 80 times. It would have been even more dismal with the rotary, given how fat it was. Never mind that the GM rotary car was the Vega, not going to be based in the Vega. GM had already given up on the rotary. Said GM rotary is weird, BTW. It's literally like a GM engine had sex with a Mazda rotary and that's the result. It's got familiar bits from both the Mazda rotaries, and typical '70s GM engines. It hurts my brain. Also LOL at the Mustang II being called "the industry's first subcompact sporty car." Volvo 240 is a woefully underappreciated sedan. Was looking at the prices on the V8 repowered models recently, probably a really good target for an EV conversion as well

This has been a pretty good and awesome AI month for me. My ladyfriend gave me this cool huge as gently caress shift knob with a dandelion in it And I won the plate lottery. I did not custom order these. Now I need to think of a cool story about barbecue that happened to me back in 2002. Good times were had by all.

Beefy! I had a friend talk about how they wanted to make some DnD dice sets so was playing around with resin. I asked him if he could make gearknobs and he said he'd give it a go. Ideally I'd love a big DnD dice one but he wanted to give moulding a shot. I supplied him with fuckloads of pro grade glitter and he knocked me up a copy of one of his drift knobs. I just need to trim it to the size I want and epoxy an insert in the butt, maybe give it a polish and then a few coats of clear to keep it sweet. Anyway, custom knobs are cool and good, your ladyfriend is rad. oh and I came to post this adorably sleepy Elan https://twitter.com/MasahiroMatsu7/status/1502622858450669569?s=20&t=3KdEfrn-k6hZ-lRa-y6vFA Olympic Mathlete fucked around with this message at 19:15 on Mar 15, 2022 |
