I saw this the other day. It looks so much loving fun. It even had a cueball (with an actual cueball on it) shifter.

This would allow even more insane motors to be easily transplated. Holy poo poo. Are they decent performers?

Took a picture of this on my way to look for a house. Full AWD 6x6 operation. Lockable differentials, Crawler ratio low range transfer case, and best of all, a Honda factory option snow track kit for the rear, with 90km/h capability with tracks fitted.

I would imagine they probably compare favourably with a rover v8. I think there is one running about with an m3 transplant too :D I don't know anything about them aside from what I found from searching "defender 2.8i" on google.

Since the p38 range rover used the BMW M51 diesel lump* from the 3/5/725 TDS I guess this is actually not that out of the world, since they were already used to fitting BMW sixes into holes made for rv8's.

*Also found in the Vauxhall/Opel Omega (which was the same as that caddy that zigged)

I don't know why you didn't think details were worth mentioning but if anyone didn't see the article, this is by Hennessey, makes 1,226hp and has a top speed of 242mph.

Edit: vv well that's certainly true. By shady though I assume you're referring to him being a dick, or do we have reason to think those numbers are inflated?

So what your telling me is... Next time my head gaskets let go, because they are made of swiss cheeses, I could transplant a M60/M62 into my basket case of a rover?

I guess so, in theory! Also, the M62 was fitted to the L322 Range Rover.

Coincidentally, SA was also the only place to get the V8 Sierra and the M30 E30 out of a dealership.

I'm pleased to see this. I've always thought a BM straight-six would work really well in a Landie, nice that it was actually done.

Same with a lot of places. Some states have pretty lenient laws on what can be registered for road use.

Yavapai County is something ridiculous like "Does it not catch fire, have lights, blinkers and a horn? Sweet. Here's your sticker".

In NJ they have special plates for 25-mph vehicles. The University that I work for has a number of golf carts and little mini Hummer things that go 25mph and can be driven on the roads.

You have to be brave to take one out on a New Jersey road, though.

Here I believe they register them in the same classification as some scooters.
