It's way more likely he's just rocking one of Jim Shine's plates. I want every single one of those on a wall in my future dream garage. Oops, you're right. The '1' is different from the movie. Maybe an ebay plate, then? \/\/\/\/\/ Boomerjinks fucked around with this message at 17:37 on Sep 5, 2012 |

Yeah i hosed that up. The guy who built the van is Travis Bell, and he makes those license plates. Also, he (and Jim Shine) were the guys who found and restored "Lee 1" Here's a video of Travis describing the origins of the Cannonball Run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU_WcGSZ0FU

VikingSkull posted:England has to be pissed that two of its children turned out to be huge rednecks. Gold/black Trans-Am owners are funny. Our Starsky Torino owner runs into them all the time at Cars and Coffee and classic shows, and they are, more often than not, incredibly upset by the fact that some people recognize their car from Smokey and the Bandit. There's a stock DeLorean guy that has come to a few of our events, but he blows his lid every time over people making BTTF comments, which is understandable. I believe his gripe would be 100% legitimate, if it weren't for the fact that his license plate reads 882FUTR. Also:

I've only seen on "Doc" that was a two-door, but four-door versions seem pretty common. This guy was at our big show last summer. edit: I guess I can't find pictures of him, but there was a little kid there who wouldn't stop hugging him and talking to him. Went to the Pueblo air museum today, where I fell in love with this. And just so I don't derail the thread too much, that photo was taken a few minutes before I spotted this little guy trucking along the sidewalk. I'd never seen a wild tarantula before. The fact that we just allow these things to roam this country freely is goddamn despicable.

travisray2004 posted:gently caress. This is almost perfect but there's a couple errors I've noticed. The A-Team van is listed as a 94 instead of 83 and the Kill Bill Pussy Wagon is listed and illustrated as a GMT800 Silverado instead of a GMT400 C/K. Minority Report is set in 2054, but the Lexus is listed as 2002, maybe he's citing the concept they made for the film? The A-Team van is actually colored gray-red-black instead of just black and red, and it looks like this one has windows. KITTs wheels are wrong, and I think the body type is off, too. The 3/4 view of the 32 Deuce and the Ford Fordor kind of offset the theme. The Mystery Machine is listed as a 1963 Econoline, but the image is that of an 80s van. Colors of the new Italian Job Mini are off. Vanishing Point Challenger is gray instead of white. But 70 vectors must have taken a ton of effort and $40 for a print that size, even with minor errors, is pretty drat good. e:f;b by a lot of those.
