Is there any backstory to this guy? Just a farmer with ~8 million dollar worth of supercars? Not sure about the 8 million part, but drat, he has a lot of nice cars.

The greatest was reading the Top Gear website's comments section. A shitload of people were really mad that he would "thrash" and "hoon about", "ruining" the cars.

I thought it was the greatest affirmation of the cars' pedigree and a huge FTP to all the purists.

Pristine '87, 60k miles, never restored, original everything. One of the guys in the office bought it new off the lot.

Apparently he brought it to limerock this year and it ended up in a BMW mag.

That's absolutely beautiful

The Berkeley post in the terrible thread reminded me of this. The health food store I go to is on the border between the hippy town and the rich people SF bedroom community. This results in an interesting mix of cars in the parking lot. These were taken on the same day.

Parked next to this on my way in:

And this had parked by the time I came out:

A few weeks before I took these, I saw an Aston Martin DBS Volante and a BMW M Coupe in the same day. I've also seen a little BMW Z thing that apparently belongs to the guy who created Renderman and invented programmable shaders (the license plate says RASTER, and he has Pixar frames).

I unequivocally love both of those things. That Corolla just needs some TLC, and it would be completely :nyoron:. I would love a well-maintained 80's box, a near restoration vehicle with just enough creature comforts and modifications (I really still like A/C and digital music inputs, sorry).

Sorry I just wanted to rewind on the thing about Death Proof being edited poorly; it was an homage to double features and grindhouse flicks.

The pair of movies themselves reused cast members and shots between them; and intentionally made bad jump cuts with the soundtrack skipping and all, because the movies of the time they were imitating did that.

As it stands, it's an underwhelming debut because it's not quick at all; in this day and age people want to see the end result, not a slow test run.

Here is my very shaky guess. Awhile ago Mark Reuss said to not rule out a hybrid Corvette. If, and that's a big if, they do another ZR1 is suspect it'll showcase a KERs style system but based off tech GM uses such as in the Volt.

It sounds dumb but head me out. GM supposedly tested out dct for the new Z06 but they couldn't find one that handle the torque. GM has also invested a lot into it's automatic transmissions. I'm willing to bet the 8-speed auto is going to be highlighted as it's crowning achievement in this car.

So where does this leave the ZR1?

A 700+ hp grand tourer with a KERs style system 8-speed auto just as good as a dct that get's great mileage and is easy to drive but also utterly bonkers when tracked.

I've always wondered about how far automatics have come. Has GM explored dual clutch stuff?

For content: my buddy decided to make his 370z engine bay a bit tighter.
