I haven't driven a DS, but I've driven a Xantia, which still had some of the old-school Citroën brake feel. It's not really that different, just imagine an extremely hard and very responsive brake pedal. The pedal itself doesn't move much, but you can still modulate it. You just need a much lighter touch than with regular brakes.

I was a passenger in a V10 R8 doing 225km/h down an inner-city road with a normal speed limit of 60km/h and in need of some thorough repair work (don't worry, the road was closed off). It wasn't even remotely jarring or twitchy. It was completely composed and planted. Kleemann is first and foremost a tuning company, they do engine upgrades for most Mercedes models (and I think BMW and Audi as well, now), as well as suspension upgrades and styling. Pretty similar to Brabus, actually. They're based in Farum, right near Copenhagen, so we get more than our fair share of Kleemann-tuned cars around here One of my colleagues has a W211 E-class that's been breathed on by them, it's pretty gnarly. I can't see any power upgrades for the SLS on their site though, so it's probably just because the owner bought a set of wheels or something from them. E: VVV Well, darn. In Ontario, 50 or more over is an instant 30-day license suspension, roadside vehicle impoundment, mandatory court appearance and $10,000 fine. Then add whatever criminal penalties the judge chooses to add, and the cost of getting your license back and paying through the nose for insurance if indeed you are insurable at all. More or less the same here, definitely an instant license suspension for at least 3 years. Actually I think they just drag you behind a bush and put a bullet through your head here if they catch you speeding by that much.

babyeatingpsychopath posted:Watch the video. It's got a z-bar as well. The damper counteracts the z-bar in straight lines on bumpy roads when only one wheel hits a bump, but doesn't do anything during cornering. Pretty slick. I like how it achieves pretty much the same result as the hydraulic roll "bars" on the Mclaren MP4-12C, but in a rather different way. Roll stiffness is very high while being really supple over bumps, which is nice.

IOwnCalculus posted:In any racing series where that type of setup is allowed, it's actually one of the most critical bits of the setup, and it's where a great race engineer separates themselves from the good ones. I guess the old-fashioned way to do it is by using soft springs, stiff dampers and fat roll bars, at least for road cars. Substitute the soft springs for stiff ones for a race car. But stuff like what Mclaren and Koenigsegg are doing is a whole other ballgame. Citroën did something like that with their hydropneumatic suspension on special trim levels. Soft and supple over bumps, but completely flat in the corners. Such a shame they just went back to "all comfort, all the time" with their newer cars.
