Stealth Like posted:But the 3 series is the only one that was never split in the first place. If anything, it was the least logical of all the BMW naming schemes. The 5 series is the four door version, with the 6 series as the two door version of that platform. The 7 series is again larger, and with four doors, and the two door version when it existed on the same platform was the 8 series. The 3 series was the only one that combined the 2 and 4 door models together. Guess what used to be the body style of the 3 series cars? I don't know if the 8 series shared anything with the 7-series, but even if it did, those cars are nothing alike, the 850 is not a coupe version of 750. The 6 series was a replacement for the CSLs that did share some stuff with the 5 series, but I'm not sure if it would be fair to call it a coupe version of the 5er, either.

I was in the US earlier this year and just now over the holidays had some time to go over the photos. Most of these don't have much artistic merit, or are particularly exciting to Americans, but it was fun finally seeing some of the cars we don't get in Europe in person. Surprisingly, not nearly as many Ferraris and other exotics as I'd expect in these places. Here's one I missed, a clean Fox body Mustang. Also my cousin's husband had a hot-rodded Monte Carlo (I think... I'll ask him for some details) but sadly it was unregistered and hidden in the garage under a pile of crap so I didn't get to ride in it or even get a decent photo. Everyone else I met had boring modern BMWs and stuff. Mister Kingdom posted:The white convertible looks like a 1970 Cutlass. The one you have tagged as a Pontiac Catalina is also a Cutlass. Just came back from a re-enactment day at a nearby museum. I'm not really into military but there was plenty of insane automotive stuff. I won't comment most of these but will try to answer any questions. Soft-top military Trabant is a frankly terrifying combination of words. A Jeep got stuck at the end of first battle and had to be pulled out. I didn't get too many good shots from there as I was too far and without a long tele lens. Some sort of reservists were demonstrating operations with a convoy including an ambush. Apparently they still use UAZs there. Lots of people used to have a plastic one as kids. More stuff incoming once I go through everything.

Yesterday I stopped by a burger festival that was taking place nearby over this weekend. Besides the burgers, there were some cool ride: I don't care if it's a POS (even had an automatic) but it looks like the best Corvette ever. The owner of the Cadillac looked like a clone of Clint Eastwood from Gran Torino, and chased some people away from climbing on the hood.

They are very rare here so it could easily be part of the show if they just washed and polished it a bit
