Terrible car stuff is not taking a pic of the 488 I saw at the gas station earlier, but dude was walking back to his car and didn't look like he wanted some rando paparazzing his ride. CommieGIR posted:I usually have minimum of two jackstands, and I slip a tire/rim under the chassis at a point where if the car falls it'll hold the car at a point where I can escape if something goes wrong. Even with the Rhino Ramps I bought for undercarriage work that doesn't involve yanking a wheel off, I stick a pair of jackstands underneath in the highly unlikely event those ramps decide to buckle.

I found a $10 tool at SCA that made changing those out easy as. Even a mechanic mate would borrow it regularly.

These loving things: I borrowed one from a coworker to do my oil. Never again. It's like 100x more work, mess, and pain in the rear end than just opening the drain plug into a drain pan.

I mean, I prefer a drain plug - but those pumps are pretty great for sucking ATF out of slushboxes without drains. They are also excellent in situations where you can't get under the engine (like 4-stroke Jetskis, for example).

big crush on Chad OMG posted:There will definitely be someone left in the backseat, either intentionally or through incompetence I'm sure that can be avoided with basic diligence such as a weight sensor like they use in the front passenger seat to disable the airbag when no one's there, but the other way around. Of course, this is Ford diligence we're counting on, lol edit: also nice to see Ford hard at work erasing the climate change gains we've made. Just park it in the sun or have the new guy wipe them down, you really need to leave it idling all day with this poo poo? Taxpayers on the hook for all that gasoline too.

Cops basically leave their cars running all the time during their shift anyway, unless they're getting gas or a bite to eat or something. edit: vvvv I really loving hate that you're right about that Q_res fucked around with this message at 03:12 on May 28, 2020 |

I skimmed the title and it being police related I thought it said convicts. It being intended for deactivating corona is an improvement.

Your honor the suspect said "I can't breathe" so I feared he might have corona. Luckily the department had a procedure for suspected covid exposure.

I'm pretty sure the cop cars are idling all day anyway, at least from what I've seen. I've definitely had opportunities to steal a running cop car, but I also like staying employed and not getting shot so I've never tried it

I had a coworker that was a fair amount older than I am that stole a shotgun from a cop car when he was a teenager, then almost killed his friend when they were playing with it. But luckily he was white and this was before everything had cameras so nothing every happened to him. If I'm going to risk anything, it'd be stealing a 10mm MP5 from the car of a FBI agent like some guy did in SF.

I forgot to disconnect the battery in my car when I last parked it 8 weeks ago, so I wasn't suprised to find it was stone dead when I went out just now. What was a suprise was that the battery moved when I put a wrench on it, and on closer inspection not only is it not held down in any way, it's not even a battery for my car. Shame on me, this is the third time I've bought a car with the wrong battery in 11 years of driving, but the other two were a petrol battery in a diesel () and a diesel battery in a petrol () from the same model. This one doesn't fit any spec of my car, and is just flopping around in the battery box.

Police brutality aside, does anyone trust Ford to write software that doesn't have random fuckups? I'm having flashbacks to buying a portable speaker at the start of a 10 hour drive when my rental Dodge's infotainment system hard locked and no one at the rental agency or Dodge support could unfuck it.
