I'm having a hard time finding much of Tyler Childers with a full band for some reason. Anybody got any leads? His solo guy with a guitar stuff is ok but I'm not really into that. edit: Well heck, youtube is showing his albums for me now, they weren't showing up earlier. Colter Wall is pretty good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drpdrQq8c98 HenryJLittlefinger fucked around with this message at 00:08 on Mar 8, 2019 |

Jason says he's fine with it but it looks like mainstream country started doing covers of his songs. https://morganwallen.lnk.to/covermeup Which is kinda lovely since they wanted abso-loving-lutely nothing do with him when this song was first out. I don't know if there is a thread for him or if there is a "murder folk" thread, but you all should check out Amigo The Devil. He sings folk songs about murder, horrible people, broken hearts, etc. If this broke any rules, I'll delete but seriously, go listen to Amigo.

I just found this thread and went back several pages and only found one mention of The Dead South. Do they not fit the thread, or are they obscure? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9FzVhw8_bY Another recent one I've found is Uncle Lucius. Great social commentary in this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYdvxBxHX2U I saw that Colter Wall has been mentioned, and I like his stuff. Another I can throw out is Trampled by Turtles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjdkc14-zwQ And one that reminds me of listening to my dad's outlaw country 8-tracks in the 70's (Hellbound Glory). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Osq8N8bPkI Lucid Nonsense fucked around with this message at 01:37 on May 3, 2019 |

i know they are kind of "progressive bluegrass" or whatever but if you folks ever get a chance to see trampled by turtles, it's a really fun experience. they are really great live and are breaking strings all night because they're rocking that hard

It’s a song called I Hate Chicago. It’s tounge in cheek, it’s about how her ex wife lives there: “I couldn't give a poo poo about the (Smashing) Pumpkins, Slint or Wilco Learn to make a pizza you loving jack-offs Say hello back when someone says hello, you rear end in a top hat I hate O'Hare, I hate Midway, I can't stand Chicago” The the video is a recreation of Wayne’s World. Can anyone recommend Melbourne alt country? I know Devil Goat Family String Band.

I saw an Austin City Limits rerun on PBS last night, with Margo Price (I love her so much) and a singer-songwriter named Hayes Carll, who I was unfamiliar with, but he was terrific. His songs reminded me a lot of Tom Waits' 1970s material, which I mean as a major compliment. I also just discovered masked and mysterious Canadian country crooner Orville Peck, who looks like an obscure Golden Age cowboy-superhero and sounds like he belongs on a David Lynch soundtrack.
