Motorpsycho did a country album with some local musicians back when they were starting to get big in their native Norway.
Some bits are a bit silly (the whole thing was released as a fake OST) but over all, there's lots of good stuff - mostly country and southern rock.

Then a few years later they did another one. It's also pretty drat good.

I came across Dead Soldiers on Bandcamp recently and liked their album enough to buy it.
Their own tags read: country gothic-americana alt-country americana bluegrass roots Memphis which I guess is a fair enough description, although I really like their use of electric guitars to beef the sound up at times.

Picked up a couple of folky albums on Bandcamp a week or so ago from bands I haven't seen mentioned here.

The Oh Hellos are a duo with a bunch of guest musicians. There's mandolins, guitars, group backing vocals, a kick drum and you probably get the jist. If you listen to 'Like The Dawn', 'In Memoriam' and 'I Was Wrong' you'll get a decent overview of the album. It's a good album, but if they sounded a bit less like Mumford & Sons I wouldn't complain.

Poor Old Shine have recently changed their name to Parsonsfield, but they haven't updated their store pages. Oh well. A touch more Americana-esque than the other lot, and a bit more work-in-progress as well to be honest, there's still a lot to like. The up-tempo tracks here are probably the best (they sound like the drummy bits off Trampled By Turtles' Trouble), but the slower songs aren't that bad. Listen to 'Footsteps In My Ears', 'Punching The Air' and 'Right There' and make your mind up. Or just listen to 'Punching The Air' a hundred times instead.

Found this live performance of Ryan Adams the other day, I almost like him better when he performs by himself folk style.

Love the Buck Owens guitar :allears:

While I really like Faithless Street, I'm increasingly convinced that Factory Girl is my favourite track on the (extended) album.

Haven't seen her mentioned, but Gwenifer Raymond's debut is good stuff, if you like minor-key instrumental banjo/guitar/mandolin.

In truth, I think she'd be best served making a good country band into a great country band, but good luck with that in the UK, I guess.

Sugarfoot are a Norwegian sort-of supergroup, in the sense that most people won't have heard of the members before, but they are in other bands (Deleted Waveform Gatherings, Motorpsycho, among others). They make primarily country-rock, with some diversions around the edges.
I only own the first 3 albums, but I'm working my way through and word from fans is that they keep improving. Their first album - This Love That We Outwore - is very solid, but start with Big Sky Country, which is just better in every way. Album 3 - Different Stars - was recorded at Joshua Tree and steps the tempo down, but is still very good.

I finally got around to getting the Drive-By Truckers album from the start of the year and I really like it.
It's not as good as American Band, but that album was excellent.

It's funny looking at some of the user reviews, though. Kinda hard to work out who doesn't like it on musical grounds vs who doesn't like it on political/ideological grounds but uses the music as their excuse.

Also didn’t Ryan Adams turn out to be a sex pest?

Very much so.
And then he started whining that being called out for being a sex pest was harming his career.
