I wouldn't sweat it too much. Micros are mostly about learning the game and learning to exploit the fish and strongly unbalanced players, imo. If your opponent is adjusting his strategy well depending on your (reasonable) fold to cbet stat, he probably won't be around for that long. Also, your stats at micros aren't super reliable, because you play differently against fish than you do against balanced regs. Like, I will call much more willingly against somebody who clearly can't read the board than a reg betting pot on a wet board.

On the other hand, I'm not doing very well lately, thanks in part to some bad hero calls, so maybe don't listen to me.

Regarding c-betting. So far I think to many people fold to c-bets at the lower levels. If I have something I will definitely want to see the turn and then make up my mind.
To me it's included in the price of seeing the flop. If I have overs, an ace or a draw I will call a c-bet and then decide if I want to bluff or fold or if I improve. You basically have to bet pot to get me away or have 2 overs and no flush draw. Probably not the best strategy but it seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable. And if I c-bet I try not to do it with air. Checking is always an option and then raise or call. Like I raise from the button with Ax. BB calls and then leads. I will call and then see what happens, or I will just check raise. BB is then looking at his third pair of j5o or whatever and question what is happening.
Of course it depends on the player. But I think they would re-raise pre if they had any pair and kq, a,j and above.

You should be thinking about doing less calling and more raising, though.

To maximize profit off fish you need to be aware of what kind of fish this particular guy is and what's the best way to exploit him. If he's an aggrodonk, you be a calling station. If he's a calling station, you be a weaktight nit (but with a somewhat wider range, top pair is the nuts vs. a station), if he's a weaktight nit, you be an aggrodonk. Whatever the other guy's favorite mistake is, you want to encourage him to keep making it. Obviously the texture of the table matters too.

Sure with all the information out there for free from dnegs or bencb, you really have to vary your game a bit. But somehow the I am holding 9s in the BB with 20bbs stack and a call and a raise in front of me so I just shove strat is not working for me personally. I am sure it's +EV in the long run but I play very few tournaments and prefer to to shove in an unraised pot from the button or cutoff just to take some blinds with K5o or something until I get a better hand and then can call an all in with KK, AA, QQ.
Maybe I just calls with the 9s and if no overs come, I then shove. Or if there is a 9 , I then check- raise all in.
I totally shove 10s though in that spot but 10s block some of the power of AK.

I played a few more tournaments, lost like 3 bullets in a knockout tournament before I said gently caress it. Realized that I was trying to force things.
The zen of poker is really a thing. Don't try and force stuff. The spots will come. Just cus you get good cards doesn't mean that you have to play them out of position. AJo ,KQo ,66, UTG or in the SB doesn't mean you should go broke. Much nicer to open a pot with 10,5s from the button and see what happens and play position. Blind calls, an Ace flops or other overs , perfect. You bet and take the pot. Flop is 8,6,J in another suits, check.

Given that the OP is 100 pages ago (not to mention time lapsed) are there any good / safe ways to play online poker in the US for small amounts of cash? Trying to figure out what isn't a shitshow is next to impossible.

Ignition/bovada is fine, but you might need to gently caress with bitcoin to deposit. I tried using my card once for a deposit and my bank declined the transaction, but I know people who load their account with their cards no problem. Depends on your bank.

America’s Cardroom is also an option but I find it to be a little bit less soft than Bovada, and they’ve had some issues with bots in the past.

it's been fine for me in PA but I haven't left the penny tables. people play loose as hell because of the low stakes and it's kind of teaching me some bad habits in playing a bit too formulaic. the few tourneys i've sat in have been fun but i've only been in a handful of those

What's happening?!?!
So I've done 25k hands in 10nl now and for the past 15k I've only been break-even thanks to rakeback. I can't pretend it's just variance either as I've done some silly hero calls and been too passive with some hopeless hands. But I'm still enjoying the game and still up considerably thanks to running hot previously, so will just keep plugging away at it.

I play in PA when I go to visit family, and I made a decent amount of money over a Thanksgiving weekend. (I mean, it was only like $50, but I think I only deposited about $25 to get a deposit bonus.)

Tables are full at NL10 and lower, NL25 is probably fine, too. Haven't really checked, otherwise.

I did cash/win a couple MTTs, too. They were reasonably soft last time I was in PA.

So I recently deposited on Ignition so I could get back into playing. I've got a question about the bonuses, as it seems like people have a lot of problems with them, and I don't want to mess this up.

So basically it gives me the bonuses right away, but my money is locked and can't be withdrawn until both the casino and poker bonuses are cleared or forfeited?

And the casino bonus is impossible to clear so I should just forfeit that?

And then the poker bonus looks like it's going to take approximately forever but who cares it's at least something and it will gradually clear portions of it as I play? I could always forfeit this bonus as well if I decide I suck too much at poker and want to withdraw my money?

Apparently iPoker went from 6max (already against my liking) to 5max at microstakes levels a few weeks back. This is an absolute pain in the butt because the skin I was using I knew were decent for paying out. I prefer full ring games because I don't have to give them as much attention, and I'm usually using poker as a distraction rather than for anything serious. And even then, with 6max being typical in their tournament structure it means I just won't use any iPoker skins, which is a shame because they're used by a massive amount of bookies in Europe that if you go with a reputable skin you probably won't have problems.

So I've been playing a bit on ACS, trying to grind my bankroll up. Just curious if anyone does those Venon Blitz step tournaments to try to get a ticket to the main event. It seems like these could be used to building a bankroll. Just grinding low level tickets for cheap and using those to enter tournaments above your roll. Am I missing something or is this a typical strategy?

What's happening?!?!
I've moved on to 25NL since November, which means around 60k hands, and I'm feeling a bit discouraged by the rake. I look at the tracker and it shows >1600 USD up pre rake in this period and around 350 USD post rake. I haven't had much luck with GG rakeback bad beat thing either, so it just feels I'm playing for the benefit of the house. My current family/work situation is such that I can't really play more than 1-2 hrs per day, so full-time grinding (which would also improve my rakeback lottery chances dramatically) is out of question.

I'm also not sure if I can really take my game to the next level without putting in a lot more time/money. And that's fine in a way, because it means poker remains just a hobby for me - but it also feels weird to be decently good at something people do professionally and not have anything to show for it.

So over the last month I've been playing a lot more, and I kinda want to start studying again. I'm just wondering what are some good resources for the game now. Last I was playing, it was Harrington on Hold'em and the Green Book. What are the modern versions of this?

I also never really did a lot of self analysis. Is PokerTracker still the go to? Also, what is a good resource for learning about ICM?
