So after all the mlg playtesting or whatever has been going on, has anyone come to the conclusion that the hard light shield isn't as useless as it looked like it was when we first saw it? It's my understanding that the various rifles, including the assault rifle, might actually be balanced against one another for a change (though I've heard nothing about the pistol either). From what I've been told the carbine actually seems to be "stronger" than the BR, and the assault rifle actually is outgunning things up close for a change, but I've heard nothing about the shield or pistol.

I hated Standoff because on my tv the red guys managed to blend in to the background and I couldn't see poo poo. Though, getting the Gauss Warthog and completely dominating the map was fun. Just drove around in circles like it was a rail shooter and fired wherever we wanted.

I'm not the only one seeing a lot of Metroid Prime in Halo 4's preview stuff am I? I've seen what's basically the power beam, plasma beam, x-ray visor, scan visor, and a lot of the helmets look like stuff from the Prime games. I don't have a problem with that because Metroid Prime is great, but it's a bit odd to me. Even the bad guys look like space pirates.

I kind of like how every single thing outside of the games drives home the fact that the UNSC is horrific and if the Covenant weren't around they'd be the bad guys you have to defeat.

About the end of the last episode of FUD, Infinity is escorted by a bunch of capital ships. Hasn't it only been 3-5 years since Halo 3? I thought the entirety of what was left of the UNSC fleet went to the Ark.

I got in Metal Gear and within two seconds of opening fire I killed the enemy who took our flag, the moment a teammate said it was taken. On another instance I used a ghost to suicide bomb an enemy mech, setting it on fire. I think I like this game, though I'm not a fan of "play more = more/better stuff" and the balance of the weapons so far. The pistol's working out pretty nicely at the moment though, and I really like the SAW.

It happened twice in a row with the rocket launcher so I thought for a second that maybe now it had a charge-up time or something.

I was trying to figure out why melee was so much harder now and it hit me that the energy sword and punching don't lock on anymore; you don't rush forward a little after a guy if they're moving, which is pretty annoying. Also Spartan Ops is kind of terrible single player, especially the sections with half a dozen wraiths or elites with energy swords. I thought it could be done solo like firefight, and while you can, it's no fun at all. e: Also the killcams are broken (I was apparently killed by someone firing a foot to the left of me), and it's kind of annoying how zooming in has that range and elevation always listed as 0. Who decided how the teams should balance at the start of a game? Eight players in a 10 player game, one drops, now it's 5 on 3. Half a team leaves the game in a 16 player match, it goes 8v4. One guy quits another time, it rebalances the teams by splitting all the parties in half.  e: I rammed the back of a warthog in a ghost, blowing up the gas cans and destroying the warthog and the ghost. It is a lot harder than it should be to get five melee kills when everyone uses battle rifles and the only thing that counts anymore is "punch enemy twice", and even then it's a 50/50 whether it will count or not. You'd think assassinations, sword kills, and oddball kills would still count, but nope. On the plus side, Halo has now recognized my rightful title of Ball Master.
