Urgh. That boss. It's even worse when you try to shot-lock it, and end up flying all over the place not hitting the drat thing. Playing as Terra is really unsatisfying, I found. Also, BBBobman, can you please check your messages.

I hated the command board. Literally the only reason I played the first one, was to get Ragnarok.

Terper posted:Which is pretty funny, considering the KH Originals are all actually Disney-owned, and SE has no claim on them. Some of them can be found in some of the Disney Parks too, as these horrifying photos show. Odd they don't market it more at Disney, considering that it's just a big fat paycheck for them to say "yeah, you can use these characters".

KH1 story works because of its simplicity. At its very heart (no pun intended), it's a very basic story of light vs darkness. The antagonists' plans are clear - both Disney and original, the protagonists' motivations are clear, and the plot is fairly straight forward. The problem came about with SE thinking that the more "complex", a story is, the better and deeper it is. And it's that kind of thinking that makes the rest of the games in the series such a clusterfuck. Same for things like Dissidia, or the latest Final Fantasies, and their ilk - where they seem to believe that making something more obtuse, makes it a better story. Anyway, this game does suffer somewhat from the usual things that prequels do, in that they have to ham-fistedly come up with explanations to explain the status quo of the games that comes chronologically after. On the other hand, they plain don't give a poo poo about even trying to make the pretense of Xehanort being anything other than a bad guy. And it's glorious Pesky Splinter fucked around with this message at 23:38 on Oct 27, 2012 |

Six Of Spades posted:So... Braig already has powers of Space before becoming a not-person. If I understand right, there are other characters like him in BBS too, right? Do they also already have their elemental affinities? Yes...and no. In Ven's story, their designs reflect the elemental affinity they have later, but you never really get a chance to see them. Riku's story in COM is basically him coming to terms with, and mastering that middle ground of light and darkness. Even his weapon's named after it, "The Road to Dawn". Of course in the rest of the series, they go "gently caress that, darkness is bad". They did that in Final Fantasy III as well - the original is basically that light and darkness are just as bad when at extreme ends... and that's what Xehanort's suggesting, funnily enough. Terra of course is just a dumbass, and that's why he's not so good at this thing.

That is literally how they work. There is a rather spoiler heavy quote that consists of Nomura showing the writer, Daisuke Watanabe, a picture of Ven, and then the writer coming up with a reason why another character shares his appearance, and how that relates to Sora. And they do this for pretty much all the poo poo Nomura comes up with.
