Why has no-one gone with the burglary story? There's only four articles about it on Google News, only one from a 'proper' newspaper. Is it not true? Is it legally dodgy enough that no-one but the Indie will touch it?

Bizarre nugget of information of the day: Andy Coulson is not there because he's at a job interview.

Who? Why?!

It's not about libel, it'll be about ensuring a fair trial. People have gone to prison for Googling defendants in trials they were jurors on so it stands to reason that the judge will do his best to stop jurors reading outside stuff about the defendants.

Same reason the Gawker piece is blocked in the UK.

Obviously it was all down to Nick Davies, but the point is that the Guardian let him do his job, don't interfere, and trust him. That's their role in this. They will bankroll his work and just know that he'll get the work done.

Davies was actually on the PIE/child abuse story back in the 90s too.

Don't underestimate how much people can be persuaded to disregard things for the "greater good" of an institution. The most obvious recent case is the Penn State university football team, where a member of the coaching staff was abusing young boys on an extraordinary scale, and everyone turned a blind eye because it'd make the team look bad if it came out.

If people will do that for college football, what will they do for their political party? Or for an institution like Parliament?

"Look, just let it go. We'll deal with it internally, we don't want it getting out and making the party look bad do we? There's an election in a year..."

Is there anyone left who still believes Guido Fawkes is some sort of scourge of the establishment, rather than being their mouthpiece for the poo poo they can't put in the proper papers?
