man they are loving rushing through the "oh poo poo it's 2036 now" stuff. Just "alright any possible character issues we're going to get right the gently caress out of the way so we can focus on insane poo poo happening for 13 episodes"

I kind of love it but I'm worried :ohdear:

We're 34 minutes deep into the premiere, I'm sure they'll slow down later but I'm loving the intensity so far

Yeah, it's ridiculously linear and forced. Don't get me wrong, I really liked HL2 and the first 3 seasons but this is like X-files after it should have gracefully exited. Or Lost's last season.

It's not quite "intense" as much as "here are some things!"

I dunno, it's not doing much for me but I'm super happy it's back either way and expect it to get better as we settle in.

If nothing else Walter torture is getting to me :smith:

e: I think my big issue is that I just miss Universe B and all of its characters and the Universe A + new people aren't doing anything for me. Hm.

It would be Fringe-y if they end up having to reopen the portal to universe B to defeat the observers with an aged version of the main B cast.

Well that was awesome.

I guess we'll be back to more loveable braindamaged Walter now instead of evil supergenius Walter.

I was sort of hoping they would bust out some old Fringe tech to get Walter out of Observer jail (that go through walls device from Season 1 (?) would have been handy) but I guess the fake dead thing works.

Yeah, that was pretty solid. I think the overall pace was probably to get Olivia back in the action ASAP, but I also sort of liked it as a way to come at 2036 from Peter and Olivia's perspective. They have no time to stop and smell the roses and get a feel for how this all works and neither do we.

That was a really jarring end to the episode.

What's up with Walter anyways? During the 19th episode of season 4 Walter was basically a one man army with his genius back, but every time I expected him to outsmart the observers or have a clever plan ready, he just sort of stood there. It's not like a home-made concussive device is hard to make ahead of time, in the event he was cornered like that.

Did they retcon the part where Walter got the full measure of his mind back or something?
