Diva Cupcake posted:We’re in the middle of pre-k screenings and even the public school half day has a tuition in our town (~$3k). We also need alternatives just in case he isn’t chosen in the lottery system. A loving lottery for school. Anyways local accredited Montessori is about 3x the price, which sucks, but it’s highly regarded and doable if we want to skip the dog and pony show. Is that 3k a month?

Speaking of, our 3 year old is starting to enjoy himself pressing buttons etc. on our watches and phones. He spend some time with his older cousins watching them play on their ipads and I’m thinking of getting him his own tablet. Looking for any experiences or advice on using an older iPad or getting a fire/kindle cheapie for toddlers.

“Oh crap” book from this thread worked out pretty well for us. It recommends training between 18 and 24 months, with ideal window at 20-22ish. There’s a chapter on reasons behind it, but the basics seem to be an easier time to form a routine at that age.

Here’s a new milestone for us tonight. Our three year old got offered the customary two options for winding down before bedtime, both leading to the inevitable bath and sleep. The response was a system breaking “I want a third option”

His Divine Shadow posted:Saw this article and thought of this thread. This years mother box in finland. Gonna have to google translate it tho. The corona epidemic is apparently creating a bit of a baby boom so they are releasing 2022 version early because the 2021 stock has run out. Selfish question: Is there a way to buy one and ship it over here? They had a local knockoff version here, but they stopped doing it in 2020 due to something something. We’re expecting in January and I don’t think they’ll bring it back before then.

Benagain posted:Our daycare's sensory activity today was putting the kids in a pool of cooked noodles. We have a picture of our child reclining as if she's in a sauna in a pool of noodles, surrounded by other vaguely confused toddlers. We checked and noodles are not the lunch menu. How in the logistical hell do they set that up.
