I really don't see how even the dumbest fucker could miss the obvious irony in making a *mod* for a game, then squealing like a little bitch when someone, ehrm, *modifies* it.

This is a child abduction mod.

So the fact that he's groping women and children in so many of the screenshots is just a coincidence. Okay.

It's hard to tell because of the language barrier but I'm pretty sure the guard being a pervert is just a running gag. I mean, it's not a particularly funny running gag, but it's not meant to be taken seriously.

The picture shows an option to adopt an orphan, just like in the official DLC. I don't see anything related to child abduction in it, so this guy is indeed pretty creepy yelling about it.

It is indeed an adoption mod, not Hearthfire, but not necessarily child abduction. It just has some unfortunate writing. Also, there's images of a child prancing around in a miniskirt, so yeah.

The weird thing is, they were just talking about an innocent mod that added fairies as forest ambiance or something, and then this guy comes in talking about the sealed glass box he set up to gently caress with them in, with a link to his terrifying fairy torture fetish book just casually thrown in there. Then, when everyone started freaking out, he was all nonchalant about it. I think he even used the "I thought this was Something Awful not Something Politically Correct " defense.

Someone should track down his rap sheet. The mod added an excerpt from the book to the ban reason, and oh my god

Speaking of pedophiles, there's this classical gem.

I give you Saerileth, a Baldur's Gate 2 NPC mod about a 15-year old paladin who's the best celestial teenage girl and also chosen by her god. She falls in love with you at the first sight, talks like what you'd think Shakespeare talked like if you've never read any of him, has over 500 voiced lines, interrupts dialogue with every other NPC, can die from heartbreak if you cheat on her and destroys all evil (the best) items if given.
For some reason it's the most praised mod for BG2 that exists, though that could be partially caused by her creator banning everyone speaking ill of it. Or maybe by BG2 fanbase being a bunch of creepy hugboxers.

Has anyone tried to draft criticism into a mod? It'd be a ton of work, but I'd be curious to see what would happen if a mod criticising Nexus was protected behind Nexus' rules against criticism.

It'd be great even if it just added a few books on why criticism is a good thing, pedophilia a bad one, and arthmoor is a baby.

Well there was a mod that someone made that removed the oblivion gates from Open Cities and even speaking it's name would get you banned. So not all mods are except from criticism. Those that run afoul of Nexus superstars or against the grain of general Nexus mentality are open season.

Another instance is a mod that made armor less sexualized (removing ridiculous boob plate that the original game has). It caused a huge poo poo storm and a lot of the more vitriolic comments have been removed but there's still a ton of criticism left in the comments.

The KOTOR 2 restoration mod fall more into the category of terrible people behind the mod, though not the one that eventually got released. For a brief overview Lucasarts got all antsy about getting KOTOR 2 to store shelves for the 2004 holiday season, and ripped it out of Obsidian's hands before it was done. Around 2006 as far as I can tell, members of Lucasforums and some others formed Team Gizka to develop a mod to restore the cut content. Now Lucasforums has been around about as long as SA, and compromises two sides, one dedicated to original Lucasarts titles, and Star Wars games on the other side. Despite having very little to get excited about during most of it's lifetime the original side often has cool people doing cool things, like The Lucasarts Posters Project, and Grim Fandango Deluxe. Though it's mostly dead. The Star Wars end, and specifically the KOTOR board didn't have anything much worth talking about circa 2005, with KOTOR 2 a mess that Lucasarts had no intention of fixing and KOTOR 3 cancelled. Instead of doing awesome things it slowly became an insular shithole full of sperglords, and coincidentally the pool most of Team Gizka was drawn from.

I'm not too clear what happened next, but it involved a lot of the internal drama that is to be expected when dysfunctional internet personalities clash. It's all been discussed in the Star Wars thread before, though it's been a while since I got a refresher on the details. At some point the closed beta got leaked which caused a meltdown, and apparently work stopped completely after that. In 2009 a more competent team released their own restoration mod, which they've continued to maintain, the latest release was back at the end of July. None of this holds a candle to child abduction mods, but it's still worthy of a mention when we're discussing dysfunctional modders.

No it was not. It was made by a creepy couple and voiced by the girl. They also made assorted other creepy BG2 NPC mods but none were really as creepy as 15 year old paladin romance thing. They're just straight up bad voice acting with some weird faltering accent thing and fake old english.

From what I remember from when I was doing the LP with it, there are three in-game places where she will instantly and permanently die, one in Shadows of Amn and two in Throne of Bhaal. The best part? One of the Throne of Bhaal ones is that the flag is set waaaay early on in the :airquote: romance :airquote:. As in, if you set it to true way early on in Shadows of Amn she will die in Throne of Bhaal. Also she'll straight up die in the endgame if you become a god.
