https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ciNmj_zKg9fnxATuYVG1aY1fkmS7v0P7H7G1ucd-YQU/edit Here is a dumb thing for people who want to see my rantings about what I think we should do regarding TACTICS AND STRATEGY.

We are using another mass combat system written by vdate and Thes. All War Charms available for any PC to purchase are either okay as-is or have been converted by me. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WMVinQOsGMh38P_9kqhqNr9unJuTJ6BY3WxMZ4wSE5E/edit

There was also discussion of making Int+War relevant by having bonuses associated with it akin to Fate stunts. The rough draft of such a system is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H4gNfKrv6EsOxYk8wpF2wsMlJw9gmzT8EcHhMLcoeRc/edit . The alternative, which I've come to prefer, is to have Int+War grant some sort of generalized competence bonus, whereby stacks under your command are treated as (Int+War/4, round down) magnitude larger that their numbers would have them be. This is maybe less interesting but it is simple and elegant and useful.

Assuming equally high spirits, a leaderless mob of 3000 mortals would be able to concentrate as much force offensively and defensively as 2000 of them led by a barely competent lieutenant, 1000 of them led by an exceptional mortal commander, 500 of them led by a newly awakened Dawn Caste, 250 of them led by the best Terrestrial legion commander in the service of the Realm, 100 in the hands of an Elder Lunar who served as General in opposition to the Balorian Crusade, and 50 serving under Ligier himself.

At Misty's request, a physical description of Mercy follows:

Physically, Mercy is not particularly pretty. Were he able to talk to his former self, he would probably be told to eat a sandwich and sleep for a week, because it looks like he has been doing neither. He's certainly not cadaverous, but he's rather heading in that direction – dark circles under his eyes, thin, dry-looking skin stretched tight over high cheekbones. He has been mentioned in later description as not being very tall - he has to look up to look both Blood and Xu in the eyes, for example. His left eye is artificial, with the difference being noticeable at close range, and his right arm has been reinforced by a strange-looking bracer-armguard artifact that lets him project walls of force. The only description the bracer has received is that it has a spine that runs down the long axis of his forearm, with metal rings mounted on it perpendicular to its long axis. Both the rings and the spine are anchored in Mercy's arm proper.

These qualities are reflected in his anima banner, which takes the form of a figure whose entire body is entirely concealed by bandages, save for the right eye. The figure sometimes bears aloft a set of scales with its left hand, on whose pans are balanced a skull and a heart (human, presumably). When in combat, the scales are discarded to mirror Mercy's movements. The figure's other hand seems to be heavily armoured under the bandages, but mostly hangs limply at its side unless Mercy is actually in combat, when it will also often mirror his attacks.

Mercy dresses sharply, wearing clothes that appear to have been inspired by certain military uniforms of the late Shogunate (rather more in the European fashion than the Eastern one). Over this he wears a approximately knee-length greatcoat, with the arm to which his shield-generator has been grafted often tucked inside rather than through the appropriate sleeve. The overall effect is rather reminiscent of a British Navy uniform, assuming you stripped it of most of the gold braid and dyed most of it black.

Single malt Pork Baron
Per Misty's request:

Onyx stands about 5'8" (1,72 m) with visible muscle tone softened by feminine curves. Her eyes are blue-grey; when her anima flares, they turn completely white. She has hair down just past her shoulder blades in various shades of bloodred. The Dark Exaltation has removed the scars and blemishes she'd accumulated during her former life as a Guild spy/assassin, leaving a pale ivory complexion. However, for reasons known only to the Neverborn, her lips match her hair.

Sartorially, Onyx favors black and red, and her uniform is more utilitarian than fashionable. Her silk armor is black with red brocade, worked into the image of the clockwork bat form of Bishop's Crosier, in keeping with her anima banner. The trousers are tucked into her boots, which extend up to her knee. Her boots are sturdy and supple, with solid soles, barely any heel to speak of, and crimson-purple laces. Likewise, she sports a pair of protective gloves that reach about two-thirds of the way up her forearms. The gloves contain weights in the knuckles. She also favors a black oiled leather cloak and hood, trimmed in dark red silk.

Castle Captures the King, her chain daiklave, resides in one of two places: either in the sheath secured perpendicular to her spine at the small of her back, or at her belt. In the latter instance, it is in extended form and the chain is looped twice, rather like a hellish bullwhip. Conquering Black Shadow, her swift rider, is always in immaculate condition: soulsteel, black jade, bone and moonsilver kept polished, connections tuned and adjusted, hearthstone socketed in.

Don't call it a comeback I've been dead for years!

Once upon a time someone left the Coral archipelago in a stolen small boat. She knew that she was destined for bad things if she stayed there. She knew she couldn't make it to any other island, but she knew that they'd talked about a ship returning to Skullstone soon. She estimated therefore that if she got in its path, she would be able to wave them down and get ashore. It was better than being a half-starved clerk for the rest of her life - possibly a short one if they figured out why her husband had died.

A storm blew in and the Skullstone ship was delayed two days.

During those days she was out there, alone and faced with the full fury of the storm and its riders. She was not redhaired, either.

But in a sense her plan worked quite well. The Skullstone ship did not find an escaping woman who was going to beg and plead for the merest possibility of emigration. They found a deathknight standing on a turned-over ship, watching them and waiting. The next few months were unnaturally calm.

She was very glad to meet the Silver Prince, and after some education, she asked quite politely if she could perhaps beat her old home at the trading game. After some preliminary stages meant to smoke out if she was, somehow, going to just run back to Coral and become its death-queen, she was given a Skullstone charter, and a corporation to go with it.

The Eightfold Entrepreneur, Bridger of the Gaps Between Death and Consummation (Eightfold for short) is not superficially full of peril. She is personally affable and seems lazy to those who observe her mannerisms briefly, but it is actually efficient motion and a complete and total willingness to take it easy when taking it easy is the thing to do. She buried her worries at sea, when she felt the Black Exaltation. She may fear, and wonder, and is certainly driven from within. But worry? Not quite.

Formerly she was a frustrated economic savant who was held down by the patriarchy that rules Coral like some kind of misogynistic realm of :biotruth:. Desperate, she started doing side ventures with her husband's money. When he found out, she cracked open his skull with a frying pan and skedaddled.

Now, Eightfold is being sent out into the greater worlds, to get a better deal for Skullstone and perhaps undermine mortal power structures such as the Guild - perhaps even provide a dodge, should certain naval secrets come out about the Silver Prince. Eightfold has slightly greater ambitions, consonant though they are with the goal of dominance. She has very dim memories of mystical paths of trade. She would like to remake them, but to her benefit; an eightfold fence that surrounds everything and draws it all in for her to savor and relish on its inevitable trip to the void.

She deserves it!

Unrelated, but I am aware that I have been kind of a terrible player re: attendance lately, and I apologize for that. The past few months have been kind of insane, but I still should have at least let folks know what was up instead of just dropping off the face of the internet.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm still getting a handle on my schedule (which will be different yet again next week, since my commuting arrangements are going to change), but my goal is to have at least one night a week where I am online, on IRC, and posting. At a bare minimum, I should at least be able to get some post-working in during my lunch break (barring filing deadlines, etc.).

Again, my apologies for lack of communication and generally being kind of a shitheel.

We in the IRC figured that the diplomats would want to do their thing, so we figure splitting the group here is the thing to do - one group tackles the bug hunt while the other handles the conference, running concurrently. I'm posting this so that people not currently in the IRC or the doc don't miss this. If that's you, sound off on whether this is a terrible plan or not, and if you're for it, maybe pipe up on which group you'd like to run with.
