Thank you for this post. My wife family is from Kerala so whenever we visit family there's a contest to see who can out do the other. I did have one question for you, however. It might not be southern Indian, but perhaps you can speak to it. I once had this savory dish that seemed like cream of wheat with veggies but it was the creamiest, most delicious thing I may have ever had. I've also had it in a sweet version that was yellow in color. What the heck is it and how do I make it? My mother in law refuses to tell me.
