They haven't said anything about a second episode. It really seems like there should be one, but who knows how well this game is selling.

Hotel Dusk is really good, though. You should play it. Also Last Window and Another Code.

Halloween sale! Most of these games are good!

Wii DL controller rundown: Project Zero 2 and RE4 require a Wiimote & Nunchuk. Pandora's Tower can be played using the gamepad buttons but it's best played with a wiimore & nunchuk.

Also note: Castlevania Circle of the Moon is just called "Castlevania" in Europe because Konami.

For the curious, Pirate Pop Plus is a Game Boy-style game in the vein of Buster Bros/Pang, published by the Runbow devs.

I haven't played the Wii version but 2 is arguably the best game in the series (tied with 3 for me) and at worst I can only assume pointer controls make it a bit easy, which it already was anyway.

Overclocked and Record Breaker are both real good. Overclocked has a better story, but Record Breaker has better mechanics. Up to you which one to go with (or both!).

The story is you're trapped in Tokyo after some disaster. Also there's demons running around. And there's Biblical references freaking everywhere, if you're into that.

It's very good. You lose some of the suspense that comes with locked camera angles, but the controls are much much better. The thing that kinda got me a little with it is that I'm so used to the original US dub, so hearing these Japanese horror game girls speaking in very British accents took some time to get used to.

Kiss the Joycon to Kiss Zelda

The Devil Survivor games (Overclocked and Record Breaker) are incorrectly listed as Devil Summoner on the PR. They're both SRPGs and are quite different from the Persona series. There's no dungeon crawling at all, it's all really menu-driven where you select locations to visit and have a few dialogue boxes moving the story along, and/or have a Battle at that location. The battles are grid based, you move your party around and attack the enemies. Sometimes you'll have Win/Lose conditions (e.g. if NPCs are killed).

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is more of a dungeon crawler where you go around and fight demons (who you can also recruit). I haven't played it (although I picked it up in a sale recently) but it's a remake of a Saturn game and so doesn't have a lot of modern conveniences/QoL improvements which you might find in JRPGs these days. It would be a bit more like Persona 4.

I didn't finish it because I'm bad at finishing games, but I got to almost the end and I can say that it's really fun. It's basically a Zelda-like exploration and adventure game, but with a bit more RPG elements thrown in. There's stats, inventory management, crafting, etc.

The basic conceit is that you're exploring a huge conglomeration of dungeons (there's no overworld at all) to find the boss of each and bring back their flesh for your girlfriend to eat to heal her curse. There's a time limit element to the game where if you stay exploring too long without bringing some lower-quality flesh back periodically you'll get game overed, but unless you're fundamentally opposed to time limits in games it's never an actual issue and the towers are constructed such that you regularly find shortcuts back to the beginnining and everything in the game in general is designed around it well.

The girlfriend is another big part of the game every time you visit (and, of course, you have to visit constantly) you can have a chat with her, give her gifts, amd other such dating sim things. Getting friendly with her powers you up, changes her appearance or the appearance of your temporary base (she actually wears on her person any accessories you give, for example, and displays art items in the home. I love touches like that), and changes the ending, but I just wanted to do it because the game actually makes you care about her and the relationship these two characters have. The dialogue's pretty cute, they're both kinda dorks. I wanted to see more of it.

In case you don't care about that, the combat is fun if a bit simple and the dungeons are all gorgeous to look at and satisfying to explore. One thing though, the game does not require the remote + nunchuk setup to play but it plays really badly without it IMO. It uses the pointer controls to full effect (to aim your chain weapon), and if you don't have a pointer it just gives you a cursor to move around the screen awkwardly with your second stick. It isn't really fast or accurate enough in the heat of combat.

Regy Rusty

Grimey Drawer

I'll just add that it has mostly awesome bosses and while it's a little bit tedious to max out their relationship (even if you give her gifts constantly you'll have to grind a bit at the end to get it all the way up) it's worth it because the true final boss sequence is amazing.

Pillbug

A few more things about Pandora's Tower:

Overall it is a very good game and I highly recommend it. However there are a few quirks. You have no control over the camera and sometimes this is used against you. For example, you know there is a grapple point just off screen and if your guy would only turn his drat head you'd be able to latch on to it. But no, request denied, you need to approach from a different angle to actually see the grapple point, so you have to go deeper into the dungeon. I found it kind of hard to learn the layout of the dungeons due to this.

Finally, there is a known, game freezing bug that I think 99% of players run into. The bug happens when you're given access to two of the last dungeons. So when you're about 90% done with the game. When you try to enter the last dungeons, the game freezes. I had to unplug my WiiU each time it happened.

The cause of the bug is unknown. There are a lot of random, crazy sounding fixes to the bug. I finally got around it when I used the fix that requires you go to an earlier level, return to home base, go back to the ledge that opens the menu for which level you want to travel to, and wait ~10 seconds, then select the last dungeon. Once in, I could go to the second-to-last dungeon without it freezing. I had to do this every time I wanted to enter either of those dungeons. It worked 90% of the time, still froze the game 10% of the time.

Annoying but I got through it. But I can tell you, when you've put ~30 hours into a game and suddenly it freezes during the last 10% and the first few fixes you try don't work, that really puts the fear of god in you.

I haven't read any posts online stating "I couldn't get past the bug and I gave up" but who knows. I have seen people stating that the digital version has the bug as well, so they didn't loving fix it.

I *think* the bug is only present in the NA version and PAL is ok...but don't quote me on that.

Again, the game is very good and I really do recommend it, but people should know about this before going in. I was playing a disc version on my WiiU for what it's worth.

I think the general consensus was trains were a bit more frustrating then the boat, the Spirit Tower was better then the Temple of the Ocean King as a central dungeon to return to, and the Pan Flute sucked compared to the lack of instrument in Phantom Hourglass.

I personally didn't mind the touch controls much, and both had pretty good dungeons, but I think Spirit Tracks was stronger. Your partners in both games are pretty amazing too, probably my favourites of the series.

Both of them are not particularly good. Phantom Hourglass actually would be alright (if you like the PH/ST control scheme, I thought it was okay-ish) but gently caress that Temple of the Ocean King. If you don't take good notes on the map and stop playing for a while you are not gonna have a good time when you get back. Spirit Tracks did that progress-based dungeon thing way better, and maybe the other dungeons a little better, but everything else worse. Few steps forward, some steps back. The limited overworld exploration, the annoying train combat, that godawful loving pan flute.....Spirit Tracks sucks.
