![]() Jeopardy! America's favorite quiz show has been on the air since 1964, airing a total of 9,300 episodes (as of October 26th, 2012 according to wikipedia). Originally titled "what's the Question," "Jeopardy!" got its current moniker from a studio executive's rejection: "there aren't enough jeopardies." While Art Fleming hosted the show originally, Alex Trebek has become inextricably associated with the Jeopardy brand (though he should really bring back the 'stache), and only once has he relinquished the hosting of the show (to Pat Sajak in a 1997 April Fool's Episode). What is this thread? This is a discussion area for the nightly jeop-isodes, but also for having asperger's syndrome about a game show. Do you like to make your friends feel stupid? Then this is the thread for you, you intolerable, smug oval office! When can I watch Jeopardy!? Jeopardy! is in syndication, so until I spend the absurd amount of time it will take to make a chart, check your local listings. Here's how stupid I am. Jeopardy! already has a map on their website! Can I be a contestant on Jeopardy!? No, you're stupid. But on the off chance that you're not a complete idiot, this is where you go to sign up to be a contestant. Is there any way to play Jeopardy without having to test for the show? Urine luck, pissfucker! PS3, XBOX360 and WII have Jeopardy! games available for you. Buy the game! Spend your money. I bought it for PS3 and have not stopped playing for like two weeks. There's also a board game it's probably okay? I have no idea. Is there some sort of archive of every Jeop-isode ever, including contestants' names, scores, and responses; answers, readers, and questions; and who won (and by how much)? You have Asperger's Syndrome. But also yes: here it is. Glenn_Beckett fucked around with this message at 01:31 on Jan 24, 2013 |

Jeopardy! is one of the best show on television and I wish I caught it more often. It comes on here at 7 and they just sold it to FOX in my area. ![]() Hopefully this winter I'll catch more of it.

Back in the 80s, my family had one of those giant satellite dishes where with the right knowledge one could record a whole week's worth of Jeopardy from the syndicate's upload feed. My friends were amazed at my knowledge and I made at least $100 off of side bets. ![]() My brother was 3 when the current version of Jeopardy appeared. His inability to say 'Jeopardy' has led to my family calling it 'Jefferdy' to this day.

Goddammit I love this show and they're a bunch of jerks for not accepting me on it. I've taken the test basically every time I've been able to for the last ten years and done really well and they never call me ![]()

Jeopardy is the best and Alex Trebek is the coolest guy, I'd love to shop it up with him after a show. Honestly I like him better without the 'stache I'm really good at playing along, but apparently the test is much, much harder. I think at least a couple of goons have made it on the show.

I watched an episode over the weekend (it was the 6/14/12 rerun I think?), it owned, it was the one where everyone said Celine Dion in final jeopardy and hosed it up (it was shania twain) (i yelled out celine dion as my guess) so yeah jeopardy is fun to play along to, A+ television

She used to have to turn the letters but now they just light up with the letter. All she has to do is walk up and touch them. I doubt her touching them even does anything, it's just for show because well, that's what Vanna White is supposed to do. She's technically no longer needed to make the game function.

I am sure this story is apocryphal enough that several people tell it but the guy who just won the teacher's tournament told an anecdote about being invited to some fundraiserand not going for a guy with a weird name in 2000 that wound up being Barack Obama. However earlier in the week on GSN's Jeopardy replays a white guy told the same story in 2009. Did this guy jack his anecdote?

It would have been way better if he was clean shaven in Jeopardy, and then had a normal Trebek stache in round 2. I still love the April Fools Day where Double Jeopardy was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and it was never mentioned at all. Glad there's a thread about this game show of game shows. Will there be live watching in this thread? I'm probably awful to watch Jeopardy with though, I know too much and sometimes yell about it. My friends accuse me of cheating/smartphoning because I know a lot of random poo poo? They think I look it up without touching anything but my beers and snacks. One thing we could definitely do is set up some jeopardy games on Xbox360, PS3, and Wii (they all allow for invites by whatever their equivalent of a PSN-id is). I have friends over pretty frequently to watch jeopardy together for bragging rights and to fantasize sexually about Alex Trebek (we just do one point per question including daily doubles, and wager on final jeopardy). zenguitarman posted:Honestly I like him better without the 'stache You are an actual war criminal. I've taken it every year for the past...6? years, and last year was the best I did...I was, by my estimation, a couple answers away from the "cut off." Not that everyone who makes the cut off gets called to do another round, but if you don't make it, you definitely won't. But I always get pissed that the questions on the test are harder than on the show, on average.

poo poo these idiot contestants ALL missed today, not including daily doubles (and whether or not I got it): 1. What is Coca-cola? (nope!) 2. What is Volkswagen? (yep!) 3. What is roar? (nope!) 4. Who is Harold Lloyd? (gently caress no!) 5. What is the Sanhedrin? (ughhhh no) Oh well, I usually only consistently get the ones nobody gets in literature, opera, or classical music, and there was almost none of that tonight. Makin' excuses like a real pro and a good sport. Bad stories from Asperger's Jeopardy! contestants 1. Was in mission-control when America landed on the moon. Actually a pretty cool story. 2. Took a driving trip "uhh, around the west." What a boring idiot. BAD STORY! 3. Got punished for stealing an inflatable stegosaurus (the yearbook mascot). Yearbooks don't have mascots you loving awful poo poo! BAD STORY!

I like it a lot. I've been planning to try and go on there for years, but I can't seem to force myself to learn about opera, baseball and the other terrible categories that inevitably will pop up. I guess I should take the test next time I see it, though. Trebek is supposedly only going to be on for another ~2 years. I want to meet the smarmy old man in person. I had a friend go on there before. She said Trebek was a huge dick and a class of elementary or middle school kids were there for a field trip. Trebek went off on one of the crew members which included a barrage of "f-bombs", as she put it. A crew member arrived to apologize to the kids "Mr. Trebek is having a bad day."

I get so angry when the contestants start choosing the clues out of order. Especially when it's a category with a weird theme and the first clue kind of eases you in.

My high school Latin Teacher nearly made the cut off, but I actually forget the rest of that story, needless to say he didn't make it on the show. His lisp probably didn't help him either ![]() ![]() I also remember that every once a week my economics teacher would have us play Jeopardy using the site for past episodes and I did pretty good at that. Play Jeopardy in school were the best days.

I forget where I read this article but there's an economic analysis research of Jeopardy that says you don't have to have perspicacity to win. You can only know a few things about a subject and as long as you don't guess too often you will probably make enough money to do well. Example: If they have an art category you may not know the answer but answers of Picasso, Van Gogh etc are more likely than not to be correct.

She got like, $2,000 for the main game, won a trip to Fiji due to a lucky spin and puzzle solving and then won the $25,000 prize. I was irritated as hell because her husband charged me $12,000 for the 20 whole minutes he took to take my wisdom teeth out. Fuckers didn't need that money. ![]()

I've read that that's a valid strategy to throw other contestants off their game. The downside is it also throws you off your game. That's what Watson did, and he was programmed with "optimal strategy" or whatever. You also pick out of order if there's not much time left and you just need to answer the bigger bucks questions to have a shot at winning.
