Oh sure, pick the automotive category last and then run out of time with 3 clues left. I see how it is.

Do the contestants usually know a lot about sports? I seem to remember them doing badly, but I might just be thinking of the 'power players' week where nobody even knew who Cam Newton is.

haveblue posted:Had to laugh at Alex giving the one-minute warning and the next clue being a huge rambling mess with visual aids that boiled down to "identify CO2". But the other 3 clues could have been decent. It's possible. Maybe? Did they tape an episode that was supposed to air tonight? I didn't see it on the TV schedule over here due to the election coverage.

At least most contestant stories are better than one poor guy's I remember. His team won, and he said he celebrated the victory with X million of his friends. Alex asked him about it, and he said he considered everyone in his city to be his friend. Sheesh.

Come on, who doesn't know the name of Neptune's largest moon? It orbits backwards and everything. For the Jack White clue, supposedly it's harder for the contestants to see the monitor that has video clues than it is for the audience at home to see them. She didn't even know there was a picture until after she answered.

As I understand it, they only penalize for not answering in the form of a question for double and final Jeopardy. I guess you can misphrase clues as much as you want in the Jeopardy round?

HookShot posted:I think it is to stretch out the amount of time until they run out of new episodes. They're trying to figure out how to do more games; they've been looking for people in the LA-area who can go on the show. I think they're hoping to be able to start taping again before mid-June, and then hopefully get a few weeks ahead so they don't have to pause. They're breaking up the 4 hour-long episodes into 8 30-minute episodes, so there shouldn't be too much filler. The other two episodes be Ken's first game and Ken's last game on his original run.

If you google the name of the current champion, you can find his Youtube channel which has a single video about Legos. According to the mod of the reddit, you are not allowed to post that link. Posting the link counts as sharing personal information and could get you banned sitewide, even though the youtube account is under the guy's actual name.

HookShot posted:He's quick on the buzzer and so he's getting a lot of the lower-value clues, which gives him a big lead because most of the higher-value ones end up being triple stumpers. That combined with relatively aggressive betting on Daily Doubles when he knows the categories is getting him through. Like, for example, Zach Newkirk, who is coming back on Thursday? Actually, it's been so long I don't really remember how Zach plays.

I'm guessing they would weed you out long before you made it to playing an actual episode of Deal or no Deal once they found out you didn't believe certain numbers were lucky. I liked the one where a guy had a 50/50 shot of either getting $1,000,000 or $1 (or taking the deal of $416,000). He was convinced not to take the deal because he had the case number of his father and grandmother's birthdays. The other case was 11 and the month of November has been bad to his family. That clearly means he has the million dollars in his case. How do these people function in society?

There have been entire categories where the answer was in the form of a question. Nobody seemed to get the hint though, and added 'who is' or 'what is' to the beginning of each question.
