O-1 Bird Dog used for artillery spotting during Korea and Vietnam. I've always liked it because 1) it's a Cessna with jaws 2) Its name is totally appropriate to its mission 3) It feels like it's OG back to WWI in its role of spotting the enemy from the air and directing artillery and finally 4) It was flown by this bad rear end mofo:

Who flew it on 85 combat missions and was awarded 6 air medals.

Depends what you're calling "carrier." There are 5 CVNs in the picture. From the bottom: CVN-69 Eisenhower, CVN-77 George Bush, CVN-65 Enterprise, CVN-72 Lincoln, CVN-75 Truman. The smaller ones are LHDs, which carry helos and harriers. LHD-5 there is the USS Bataan. The others I can't see the number.

I still chuckle every time I watch this video, both for the beginning "The Iraqis have finally found a plane they can outmaneuver and outgun...:fsmug:" bit, where the Predator gets it, and the clip of one spiraling out of control.

Does it seem that the narrator assumes war is inevitable in 2002? Sounded like a propaganda piece to me.

The Bush administration was dead set on it long before December 2002. They started drawing up plans before we'd even gotten all that dug into Afghanistan.

The administration was, I just didn't realize how much the media were cheer leading for it in 2002. Kinda chilling to look back on it.

Still wondering what it is he threw. Didn't look like as explosion so much as an incendiary of some sort. Tanks burn pretty good apparently.

I'm guessing it was a grenade, you can kind of see him pull the pin and count. What's burning is the propellant in the magazine.

You're saying he threw a grenade down the barrel? That's quite a shot.

On my tiny phone. Looked like he chucked it onto the turret. So they were both down the barrel and the second one set off the round in the chamber or the magazine inside?

For all the corruption, this guy was following the rules. His shell company address is in Chinatown, designated a government hubzone, so he gets even more bonus points when he bids for a contract. It's the rules that are corrupt and full of poo poo, not him.

From what I got from that video, some doctor years later diagnosed the pain and suggested he get VA disability from it. It's still pretty shady.

OTOH, this guy also went to USMAPS and dropped out.
