For real, if you're at Davis-Monthan or whatever, Fort Huachuca or just in Tucson for whatever reason, it's well worth a day trip to the Titan Missile Museum. Also the Pima Air Museum since they do boneyard tours and have tons of cool aircraft including an SR-71.

It's weird looking but apparently it's :science: involving fractals. Anything will be a step up from UCP at any rate. I'm hoping multicam wins out with dedicated desert and woodland variants. Make the standard uniform and OCIE in traditional multicam while issuing the desert/woodland as necessary.

To be fair it was the 1950s and everything nuclear was a good idea including this:

This poo poo bothers me a lot for some reason. It's one thing to have a SWAT team, it's another for the police to keep constantly adopting the uniforms and equipment of the Army.

I got held overnight due to a flight delay enroute to BCT so myself and another guy wound up getting dropped off in front of reception by a taxi. No Drill Sergeant to scream at us, just some fat, lovely looking SPC who literally had a giant ketchup stain on his ratty ACUs to inprocess us.

Shoot a rifle with your dominant eye, not hand so you don't have to do something retarded like that. I'm left handed/right eye dominant and have no problems shooting rifles right handed. In fact shooting rifles left handed just feels awkward.

I'm guessing the Woodland IBAs and old school desert boots mean it's probably from early OIF?

Flying_Crab
Apr 12, 2002

The Army isn't making a new universal pattern; they're going to adopt 3 or 4 with those being desert, woodland, intermediate/transitional (basically like multicam) along with an optional OCIE specific pattern from the articles I've read. The one in that picture is the transitional apparently.

Flying_Crab
Apr 12, 2002

^ yeah, that's one of the competitors. The company that owns multicam is also one of the competitors for this. If I had to bet, I'd go with multicam winning with specific desert/woodland versions of it being optional uniforms and regular multicam becoming the normal uniform for everyone. One can only hope since it's already in the system, effective and doesn't look retarded.

MARPAT is probably the best and most comfy, I think. Shame they don't share. I just wish there was something that designated jobs (specifically who is infantry). Hell the motor-t/ beach master dudes have loving red tabs all over their uniform.

The ACUs one patch is current unit and other is last unit?

Left shoulder is current unit, right is a unit you've served with during wartime (deployed). Also UCP/MARPAT are the same pattern with different colors. Just goes to show how dumb this whole debacle is.

I hope Congress mandates everyone adopt the new Army pattern just to say gently caress you to the Marines for starting this mess 10 years ago.

You want to stamp EGAs on your uniform or wear a funny hat? Be my guest, but having different camo uniforms for the services is ridiculous. Same thing with everyone having their own OCIE. Why do the Marines and Army have different body armor, rucks, etc? Retarded.

What is the procedure if you have both chutes deployed? Seems like having them both out could cause a malfunction or something. Not airborne so I've no idea.
