I did 4 years of customer service telling people how to use word, reset their routers, set up webcams and stuff for wfh stuff like that. I'm switching my degree to network engineering AS because that's closer to what I want (a 80 - 120k Sysadmin position in silicon valley where I live.) As part of my degree I'd get MSCA 1/2/3 CCNA 1/2/3 (I don't know how this relates to the CCNA cert path) CompTIA A+ / Cloud+/ Security+ Is that enough to get me in the door for a 50 - 60k a year job in the bay area? This is a cross post from the IT megathread. Boba Pearl fucked around with this message at 05:08 on Aug 27, 2020 |

I don't know enough about the field, but I really enjoyed doing Help Desk, and remoting in. Ontop of that, I enjoy playing with my home routers, so networking would also be cool. I'd like to be a jack-of-all trades type that kind of has to do it all or at least figure it out.

Have you done any COMPTIA+ practice tests to see what's on the exam?

late last year, I posted about my school track getting me CCNA MSCA and a bunch of Comptia stuff, I was looking at jobs right now for when I get out of school... How important is a bachelors? I'm looking at getting my AA but I can't find any job openings in the bay area that would even look at me with out a bachelors.

Better than ProctorU which is a dogshit company that actively hates your time and illegally records you, That I got fired from when they moved most of the offices to either the phillipines or alabama

How much do you guys make a year with these certs those who want to share? (Also general area.) I'll start, I have Comptia A+, 5 years of experience with the title "Customer Service Rep 4" and an Associates, and I got an offer for Support Specialist position in Fremont for 83k after benefits and everything else. E: GlassDoor says they've offered people up to 110k so I also want to know if I should try and negotiate for higher, or just take the offer. Is glass door legit? I feel like I'm either misunderstanding the job requirements, or glassdoor is just bullshitting about numbers.

The Iron Rose posted:levels.fyi is pretty good ime Man the tech sector rules. Tryzzub posted:I’ve found it to be roughly in line with salary stuff in NY tristate, fairly good for company reviews if the company is large enough. What numbers are you looking at specifically? Salaries in the bay area.

My community College has us take the Testitout Pro tests, which is a whole set of coursework, and then multiple practice tests of the exam it's for. The Network Pro course prepares you for Net+

Network+ Linux+ Security+ AWS Sysops Admin AZ-104 AS in Network, Security, and Information Technology Do I leave all of that on my resume, and order them in importance to the job, or do I leave some off and some on? I also have A+ but I don't think that matters compared to everything else.

AZ 104 or AZ-305 if you're good at studying.
