Ripped actors reminds me of J.K. Simmons getting absolutely ridiculously ripped for those dumb Snyder movies, only to appear in a trenchcoat for five seconds

Middle-aged actors who follow the Yakuza rule of suddenly revealing they're shockingly ripped is a good time

You remember Whiplash? He might not have been shredded, but you could tell he was taking care of himself. Also, if you work on a Snyder film, you're gonna get ripped, even if you're just an extra or crew. He always sets up a gym that is open for everyone

McNulty being ripped always bothered me a bit. That kind of guy, with that kind of lifestyle? The only way a guy like that stays thin is genetics or cigarettes.

Halfway through season 4 and god this is just as good as TV has ever been, along with Twilight Zone, Sopranos and that third season of Twin Peaks. I still remember the first time I watched this scene and lost my loving mind, can't wait to get there again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=242jGApzR8w

Anybody ever eat the Faidley's crab cakes Omar is snacking on? Always really wanted to try those + pit beef sandwiches extra hot. I'm a bit pussy for the pile of crap (e: lol crab) corpses that McNulty and Bunk go to town on, though. Although if I were actually on the coast I'd be game, I'm not doing that poo poo in the midwest is all. I finally found the Utz crab chips in a store a few months ago, pretty drat good. I used to love crab cakes but then I threw up on like three different occasions where I ate shellfish so I stopped . Never had Faidley's though. One of these days I need to risk it again. I miss the hell out of crab cakes and clam chowder.

I cant speak to Faidley's, but when I went to visit some in-laws in Baltimore last year they gave me the food tour, and Pappas crabcakes were absolute S-tier in the field. They're expensive, but at least you can get them delivered. The baltimore pit beef is worth taking bodies for.

Just started my first watch of Generation Kill tonight since I'm in a Simon mood and James Ransone, man. Maybe the best performance in The Wire if you made me dig down and think about it. I love how shameless and fearless he is in capturing the essence of pathetic losers.

for a bit of levity, a scene that lives rent-free in my mind, is when McNulty tries to boot up all the bullshit in order to create a serial killer, by proclaiming “hey did you notice?” about some ribbons or some poo poo, and the other detective just responds by farting very loudly

Clark Johnson as Hero Reporter is still a bit thick in season 5 - everybody constantly cracking up at what a sharp and insightful maverick he is - but the serial killer poo poo doesn't even register as absurdly for me anymore. in terms of motivation, okay, yeah - but I'll put little past a smart cop willing to cut corners.

I like that it's played for comedy but once he is set straight by Landsman, he feels both grateful and guilty enough to let McNulty know that Rawls is actively trying to gently caress him.

I probably repeat myself a bit too much, but I really love the scene where Bey talks to Delonda about letting Namond go. It's both sweet in that it shows him actually thinking about doing something selfless for his son, but also really incredibly hosed up in the way it plays with the viewer's emotions. I love how the immediate reaction is satisfaction to see Delonda get shut down for once but then it kind of sinks in that his threat and the way she immediately shuts down indicates she is no stranger to fear in her relationship with him. Which in turn reminds of the utterly callous disregard for life he's shown throughout the series, his horrific indifference to the death of the stripper at the party, and yeah the guy is a loving monster and Delonda - as bad a parent as she is - is also one of his victims even as she massively benefits from their relationship. It's been said many times, but the way The Wire showcases that people/situations are complicated even when they're "simple" is remarkable, which makes the few times it isn't like the Newspaper Bosses in Season 5 stand out so much more.

Beating drum but more shows need the no music only diagetic sound design because it's not quiet every scene has life and is vivid and framing. Any others things that only use diagetic sound design?
