Finished The Deuce and I will have to say, it was better than The Wire, as I claimed previously. The tone was also much harsher and far less cinematic than The Wire's, which I liked.

For some reason I thought the Deuce came out in like 2008 or something, was surprised to see it was fairly recent & got confused about why on a show focused on how exploiting women is wrong, James Franco would be a lead after so much came to light. Turns out yup, but seems that HBO was stuck as if they removed him they thought the show would have to end. That does explain why I’ve heard so little about it, having that guy be the face of your product would be rough.

I'm so glad that guy, who looks exactly like Bodie, confusing not only Poot but Snoop, Chris and O-dog, decided to join his corner and take the hit for real Bodie, who was in fact at the sandwich shop at the time. Real Bodie then decides he's too old for this poo poo and retires from the game and lives a peaceful life in another city. Yup that's how it went.

I was in a hospital overnight roughly during this era and there was this screen on an arm attached to the bed and you were supposed to put your credit card number in but just an hour after my visitors were telling me to sleep well I discovered you had to put a credit card number in to get internet or TV. I handed my domestic partner my wallet and phone after checking in because why would I need them? Also the phone was driven through that screen so you couldn't call either to say "Hey read my credit card number." Since I spent most of the day asleep in surgery, I then had to spend the night awake with literally nothing to do other than browse the five or six webpages the hospital had available.

when I had to spend a few days in hospital in July, I had no TV but I did take my phone charger this time as opposed to when I had to spend a few days in hospital last December and didn't and was stuck with no phone for two days. Anyway, I would have preferred a TV rather than one of my fellow patients who demanded the attention of a nurse every hour or so and I was so annoyed with her on my second morning that I told her, loudly, to shut the gently caress up

I've been watching Law & Order and look who turned up as a Nigerian tribal chief in season 3.![]() ![]() The part where this gets interesting is that The Wire and Law & Order canonically take place in the same universe, which means that Bunk isn't really a local Baltimore boy, he's a Nigerian tribal chief who immigrated and then went on to play lacrosse in high school. There's a 4 hour YouTube video in this! E: ![]() TWO 4 hour YouTube videos! Shaman Tank Spec fucked around with this message at 16:48 on Nov 6, 2025 |

I just saw him as a lawyer on Law & Order the other day! (Law and Order makes a great background show because you don't have to pay attention to it at all, and it has a shitload of Wire and Sopranos actors). A quick look at the Law & Order wiki shows he was on original flavor Law & Order four times as four different characters and Law & Order TBJ (whatever the gently caress that is) as a fifth character twice. I am sure there is a good way to tie all these character together with Bunk.

I loved that show and one of the coolest things about it was watching the same actors take on vastly different roles and still nailing the characters. Seeing Clark Peters as a strung out veteran heroin junkie and Lance Reddick as an abusive ex con crack addict was jarring but delightful at the same time. Same with We own This City seeing Jamie Hector going from Marlo to a police detective. I'd really like to see Hector show up in more stuff, since i'm talking about it. Speaking of We Own This City, Dukie grew up into one hell of a handsome dude! Seeing him and Jamie Hector acting together as colleagues who liked and appreciated each other was a hell of a thing.
