Parachute Underwear posted:I got the boxset for Christmas and I've re-restarted watching with my parents. Did they fix the issues with the set or is it still as bad as the one I got? There wasn't holders for the discs so much as slots poorly held together with hot glue.

Amazingly if you go back a couple years every single one of those "History Channel Specials on the History of X Drug" NarcAnon is a very prominent commentator.

I haven't really noticed any problems with the HD transfer except for the shots coming from cameras looking off. The view of the soccer ball going down the hallway while Omar is screaming looks fisheyed. There's not many shots like that in the series though.

The worst shot I've seen so far is the FLIR/helicopter camera shots for the end of season one when the buy goes south. The FLIR one isn't so bad but the helicopter camera that closes out the episode looks off.

One thing I never got (working through S3 with the HD release) is how pissed String is for being taken for a quarter mil ride by Clay Davis. For an organization who banked a good 60 a day in season one and chuckle at 150 in their safe getting took at season end to one that gets supremely mad to the point of assassination for less than a weeks work (at the time when the towers were running full bore) is a bit weird. Then again it just shows while String claims to be a businessman he still got the blood of the streets running through his veins. The HD release has been pretty great (if conservative) so far. There aren't any surprises with cinematography at all but there really wasn't with the original 4:3 release either. About the best couple shots are when Kima chucks some bookstands at the camera and when Avon And Stringer are on opposite sides of the Dee confession. Edit: one of the more noticeable shots that is blue screened is the rooftop convo between Avon and Stringer. Stringer they did pretty well but Avon you can tell is being blue screened since they black out an inch past his face/nose. One thing you can notice in the HD version is the details on stuff that you wouldn't see in the original broadcast. Like how the prop money appears to have Levy's head on it.

Red Crown posted:The coroner puts him at 34 in S5. And you never know, you know that rough looking dude that works muscle for Butchy? That's the "real" Omar. Andrews, I think his name was, unfortunately dead of natural causes now. A long prison stint got him out of the stick up game and he spent the rest of his life trying to make positive changes in cities stricken with the drug trade. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donnie_Andrews is the guy you're talking about.

Stringer is definitely like what Dee was saying about Gatsby; some of the props are more visible in the HD release. Guy was apparently a fan of Asimov?
