I was planning on rewatching The Wire, as I've done from time to time, but learning more about Simon's current politics soured me on the whole show. That dude should have stayed off Twitter.

What's wrong with his politics?

I mainly see him dunking on Trump on twitter when people retweet, but that's not really anything special.

Mainly that he's far too centrist for 2018. He's the guy who's telling you today Carcetti is the only realistic option.

Grips jabbing into your side when seated sucks.

Homicide notes that quite a few of the homicide dicks Simon followed around for a year didn't actually even carry their service weapons while on the job.

Over the years, I've warmed to the serial killer plot of S5, mostly because I realized that it's sorta kinda realistic in a strange way. It's two guys, who always think they're the smartest person in any given room, coming up with a play to get what they want and they're too self-obsessed to figure out that other people might see through it. It's worth noting that the rank and file cops don't really believe it, but command does. Being somewhat intelligent but also self-absorbed in the way Lester and McNulty are, makes a person stupid in interesting ways.
