I don't know if this is mentioned before but is Randy related to Cheese? They're both wagstaff's, I don't know if this is just because its a common name but being the wire all the pieces matter.

The sad thing is that if this was Randy's actual parents, he probably would've never flipped because the threat of going back to a group home wouldn't be there. Randy's case is so sad all around, if his father was actually there for him, he probably would've ended up in the drug game early, and his life wouldn't have been that much different. It may have been better materially but his life expectancy would have been truncated. I honestly don't know which is worse

Jerusalem posted:I love the Anti-CSI feel of that whole section - not only did they gently caress up, but the person kept their job (and is apparently working out pretty well!) and the lab rather than admitting what happened kept putting off telling Bunk in the hopes he would just lose interest and stop asking (Herc was probably hoping for the same thing re: the camera). That's one of my favorite things about the wire. How it juxtaposes good and bad police-men/work. Instead of other cop shows, where they're geniuses or (in shows about anti-heroes) they are a bunch of lunkheads. It's significantly changes the way I view shows with cops. When departments and agencies fight over who GETS to work a murder... I just shake my drat head. One of my favorite Mcnulty moments is in season 2 when he spends hours figuring out how the tides move. The reaction from Rawls is so well done.

^^^^ I'm wondering why you think this? I don't necessarily agree with his points, but it is pretty clear to me he isn't making them because he believed women and minorities are inferior. He believed equal pay hurt women because it took away bargaining power and added a cost to sexist or racist hiring practices.

^^^^^^^^ This isn't the exactly the point of the show, but what would you put above it? I don't want this turn into a discussion of the validity of your opinion. I just want to see if there is some amazing shows I've skipped.

I think one of the things lost in the criticisms of season 5, was how powerful and interesting bubbles finally reforming himself was. I may be in the minority but I liked season 5, though almost solely based on that characters arc. E: the final montage was great as well

That is a great summary of a season that as a whole Is, I think objectively the worst but contains many of my favorites moments; Bubbles reformation, some of the exchanges between Bunk and McNulty, Omar's death and Marlo's speech spring to mind. E: also the final montage is tied for my favorite with season two.
